Comments Thread For: Promoter: Stevenson-Cloud Best Fight Available at 175

While there are other fights waiting in the wings for light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson — including a bout with mandatory challenger Tony Bellew — promoter Yvon Michel says the best fight available at 175 is the one scheduled to happen next week.

Stevenson is defending his lineal championship and World Boxing Council belt against Tavoris Cloud, who was deposed of his own sanctioning body title in March in a loss to Bernard Hopkins. That was Cloud’s lone defeat, dropping his record to 24-1 with 19 knockouts.

They will fight in Montreal on Sept. 28 on HBO as part of a three-site broadcast tripleheader.

Perfect example of a promoter hyping up his fight...

    No chance in hell

    Kovalev-Adonis, Adonis-Hopkims, Kovalev-Hopkins, Kovalev-Ward (fantasy matchup) >>>>>>>>>>>>x10000000000 Adonis-Cloud

edit: he said best available, which I guess is true. None of those other fights were possible for September 28th

Cloud v Stevenson is a good fight, both men hit hard enough and both men have good pedigree. My *****aaa Stevenson shocked the world against Dawson (I had 5G on Bad Chad) but Cloud lost to old ass Hopkins, noway he deserves a shot at THE light heavy championship so soon.

Kovalev v Stevenson is what I want next.

Kovalev-Stevenson is almost 100% guaranteed to be next as far as I'm concerned. HBO is licking their chops At that and I imagine we're not hearing about KOvalevs next potential opponent because they're waiting for Cloud-Adomis to play out.

Bellew is WBC mandatory but I believe a unification has first priority over a mandatory

        (assuming Adonis beats Cloud)

Given both men's come forward style, this should turn out to be a barn burner for as long as it last!

I like this fight. Have since the beginning, but I would like to see Kovalev get the winner.

Damn, never heard that Kovalev-Ward fantasy matchup before.. I would stroke at the bell for that one.

I've heard some unofficial chatter that supposedly HBO would be interested in this fight next year if Ward moves up. I actually believe HBO would prefer a Kovalev-Ward matchup over a Ward-Golovkin fight that many fans have been calling for.

I agree and think Kovalev-Ward is better fight and far more interesting then Ward-Golovkin

I think Ward-Chavez Jr is the fight they want, with Kovalev facing Adonis-Cloud winner.
