I have a feeling they were probable TRYING to hit him hard, but try was all they could do. None of them had the spped to accomplish it. None of his fights would have been any different.Toney, B-Hop, and Griffin are the best nobodies the sport has ever seen RedRum

It's very funny to see Scully stick up for Roy Jones Jr. just because it seems to be the highlight of his career "sparring" with Jones Jr.

I don't want to be cynical here, but Roy Jones was a sham. He had the potential to be the greatest at 160 and 168 but He choose to create "challenges" by doing something no one has ever done before, then to actually fight the best fighters and make a name for himself.

Roy Jones was THE biggest sham to ever hit boxing. It's a shame because he had the potential but he didn't have the drive.

Sounds to me like Trupice is back.

I hate to break this to you, but you might be the biggest 'sham' to hit boxing forums.

Notice how TOS and Brewster didn't fear Wlad and both knocked him on his ass? Imagine if McCline knew Wlad had no chin back in 2002. Easy KO victory for Big Time. That's why I could never quit in a fight until I had clocked my opponent with some good shots. If his chin is untested, ****ing rush him and test it even if it means taking his shots in the process! Go wild and make sure you land a meaningful punch on that ****er before you crawl into your shell and hide for 12 rounds. Could payoff in a KO victory.
roy's chin was NOT that bad. if anyone tries to rush roy jones they pay the price. simply put, roy couldnt be touched in his prime, he was too good

Try telling that to 40-year-old Mike McCallum who was equal to Jones, or Montell Griffin who put a schooling on him, or Lou Del Valle who put him on his ass.

                Wow, is that ever weak.

Jones outpointed McCallum, clearly. Montel won 4 or 5 rounds before he started getting punched all over the ring. DeValle lost every round he out of that he scored the KD in.

If you're going to have a take, say something that isn't drivel.

yeah, I'll take someone whose actually been in the ring with him's opinion before I'll listen to someone whose never stepped foot in one.

Nothing against Scully, but it's painfully obvious this is why he's sticking up for Roy. Ask any knowledgable boxing historian, and Roy won't even be in their top 20, maybe even 30.

how was mccallum equal to jones? jones clearly won the fight and dropped his ass in round ten. remember that montell griffen was officially knocked out by roy jones before the ruling was OVERTURNED. it was ruled a ko by roy. roy had del valle out on his feet before clowing around and getting dropped, deservingly so. roy never did that again and came back and easily won the del valle fight
