Alexander is right in a sense. Khan has lost 2 of his last 4 fights. With one coming by way of KO and has appeared to be on the decline ever since. The only reason why Khan is receiving such a push for a potential Mayweather showdown is because he is a bigger box office draw, with more international appeal than Devon Alexander. In addition, due to his diverse background, Amir can attract a much wider and broader demographic from all walks of life.

Realistically speaking and from a business standpoint, Khan vs Mayweather makes the most sense. It has the potential of breaking all box office records; Including the De la Hoya vs Mayweather bout and even the recent Mayweather vs Canelo bout; Especially if the event is held at Wembley stadium, where more than a 100,000 will attend because Floyd Mayweather is more popular and has a much larger fan base among both boxing and casual fans in the U.K than he does in the U.S.

So the pressure is on Amir Khan to deliver. All he has to do is to finish the fight on his feet and hear the final bell so he can win; Because there is no way that CBS, Showtime, Golden Boy Promotions or Al Haymon is allowing Khan to come away from that fight a loser unless it comes by KO. There's just too much money at stake for them to lose.

Alexander doesn't deserve a shot at Floyd any more than Khan.

1) Khan has many quality wins: Kotelnik, Paulie, Maidana and Judah.

2) Khan has three losses on his record, but the first one came five years ago when he was a very green prospect, and the second one was a highly disputable split decision in his opponent's hometown. The third guy to beat him went on to clean out the division, so that loss is nothing to be ashamed of.

3) Alexander officially has one loss, but the Kotelnik and Matthysse fights easily could have (and many thought should have) gone the other way, too. And lets not forget that Khan beat Kotelnik by near shutout.

4) Khan got trashed for applying stalling tactics and "hiding behind the ref" in the last three rounds of his fight with Maidana. Alexander got credit for doing the same for ten rounds.

On a serious note if Khan can work on protecting his jaw, he can come out victorious, he is fast as hell, nice combos, I believe Khan will win by decision. Mark my word. If he protects his jaw, only.

I agree that Khan should fight Alexander first and the winner gets Mayweather in May. That'll give them 5 months to prepare for Mayweather and promote the fight. But Team Alexander shouldn't be too upset if Khan takes that route when that was their plan when they were supposed to fight Kell Brooks.
