  • Comments Thread For: Froch vs. Groves Sells 18,000 Tickets in 11 Minutes

An astonishing 18,000 tickets for Carl Froch’s World Super Middleweight title clash with British rival George Groves were sold in just 11 minutes today.

Froch defends his WBA and IBF belts live on Sky Sports Box Office at the Phones4u Arena Manchester on November 23, and there was no love lost at the pair went face-to-face at the first press conference for the fight this lunchtime.

“Every time I hear that tickets have sold so fast I have to pinch myself,” said Froch. “To fill an Arena that's not in my hometown, but still in a fantastic fighting city like Manchester, it's humbling and I'm really looking forward to coming here and being part of this massive occasion.

Fuck the haters, this is a good fight. Besides Stevenson, a Ward rematch or moving up to 175, there isn't much else for Froch to do anyway. Furthermore, an occasional all-British fight is never a bad thing unless it's Haye-Harrison.

Groves is going to get blasted out inside 3 rounds. He doesn't have the chin, hand-speed, power or footwork to trouble Froch. Groves very average.

I said here that the fight is a big event in the UK. It will make a fair PPV there...

I think they have made a mistake having it in an arena. 18000 tickets going in 11 minutes suggests it could have sold much more and taken place in a stadium.

So good to see. It feels like boxing is having a bit of a resurgence here in popularity.

That's impressive but I see this being a mismatch. Froch should be able to take this easily. Froch by late round KO.
