Undefeated Russian heavyweight crusher Magomed "Mago" Abdusalamov (18-0, 18 KOs) is hard at work in Florida with new trainer John David Jackson, preparing for his first premium-cable appearance, a showdown with also undefeated Cuban Mike Perez (19-0, 12 KOs) on Saturday, November 2, at The Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City and televised Live on HBOŽ.

The hard-hitting pair, both southpaws, will meet for Abdusalamov's WBC USNBC Heavyweight Championship on the televised portion of the undercard of middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin's World Boxing Association and International Boxing Organization title defense against Curtis Stevens.

Mago has devastating power no doubt, but he is limited and has severe defensive flaws. The best POSSIBLE thing for him to do was to hire John David Jackson, one thing that he'll do with Mago at the least least, he will get him in great shape and besides his defense, stamina and conditioning are the big things he needs to work on.

I've said this many times, JDJ is a fantastic trainer and I think he's doing excellent with Khabib and Kovalev. Khabib will be a champion soon, I don't think Mago will ever be a HW champion but JDJ is the best trainer for him IMO.

Looking forward to this whole card. Another good undefeated HW showdown, i think this is a 50/50 fight and if Perez can weather the storm early he SHOULD be able to outbox Mago for a decision, but with Jackson in Mago's corner, it'll be interesting to see what kind of shape he comes in and if he can go 8+ rounds and give himself a chance even if he doesn't KO Perez early.

i'm from Chicago and I am proud of Molina, he gets the job done. Not the prettiest way but the most effective way for the style he fights, but the only thing I have a problem with is when Smith won the title, the first thing that man said was "I wan't to give a title shot to a fighter who is always on the short end of the stick, but is a tough fighter and deserves his shot, and that is Carlos Molina" that is master class, and Molina has never ever even brought that up - Ishe could have gone after a bigger payday, but he did what was right - So stand up Ishe Smith, you lost but you are a very classy individual !

The Smith-Molina fight was BS, especially the decision. Not that I want to see it, but Smith deserves a rematch for IMO he was robbed himself.....

What's better? Knocking out a fellow undefeated prospect or knocking out a 40 year old on a year and a half layoff?

He wasn't robbed, though you'd expect him to get that decision on Floyd's card. I was pulling for Molina but I had it a draw. Smith did a better job neutralizing Molina than Lara or Kirkland, but really did very little himself.
