IBF welterweight champion Devon Alexander was not surprised with Danny Garcia (27-0, 16KOs) retaining his WBC/WBA junior welterweight titles last Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Garcia won a twelve round unanimous decision over mandatory challenger Lucas Matthysse (34-3, 32KOs).

Alexander, at 140-pounds, won a ten round split decision over Matthysse in 2011. That was Alexander's final match at junior welterweight. Alexander noted afterwards that he struggled to make weight for the bout with Matthysse.

Alexander lost even more convincingly than Zab did. Plus he lost on points, meaning he must be a pretty weak boxer himself if Matthysse is a simply a KO artist with no other dimensions.

Alexander is a flippin idiot. Ever think of Garcia's chin being good? Every single fighter Matthysse has fought he has floored them (Minus Garcia). That's no accident.

I hope Matthysse fights Alexander now and beats him silly. Alexander was lucky it was 10 rounder last time.
