The dumb part is staying with arum rather than taking control of his own career and letting everyone around him influence his career. Pac doesn't understand that they work for him instead of him working for them. Pac is only still Making $20mil paydays because he's an exciting all action fighter that can still draw. As far as the losses go, everyone aside from Bradley and his trainer feel that pac actually lost that fight. He has 1 true loss against Jmm in a fight where pac was whopping his azz until getting caught flush. Prior to that his last official loss happened almost 9yrs ago to Erik Morales. Cotto on the other hand just suffered 2 decisive losses back to back. If he can still get HBO to pay him millions to fight, then he has used his leverage well. He was smart enough to break away from arum to get a career high payday against Floyd then come back to arum.Comment

Manny Pacquiao's career is in politics, and from my vantage point, Bob Arum nor Top Rank has any influence in those particular endeavors. When you factor in how Pacquiao handles his life, in general, I think it makes perfectly good sense to have a promoter for his boxing. Whether you feel Top Rank, Golden Boy, or anyone else is worthy of having him on their roster is your prerogative. Cotto's career high payday vs. Mayweather still wasn't as much as Pacquiao makes, after 2 consecutive losses, so I don't see how Miguel used his leverage any better than Pacquiao has. Miguel has had a large fanbase in Puerto Rico, New York, and Florida, and has faced Margarito, Mosley, Clottey, and Pacquiao in very tough matches. If he remained with Top Rank, he'd surely be making more than he is for his comeback bout with them on October 5. In fact, if he fights under their banner in 2014, he'll make a huge payday(s).The dumb part is staying with arum rather than taking control of his own career and letting everyone around him influence his career. Cottos his own boss and he can fight whoever whenever. He has Sergio or Canelo for some big money. Good for him taking it by a fight to fight basis. Get the most money he can and the best fights he can for himself. He only has so many fights so he better take advantage.Comment

No, you're missing the entire point if this article, why did HBO reject a possibility of Cotto facing Delvin when Dibella brought it up and then would face sergio, but accepted it now whens hes with ArumMiguel Cotto has leverage, others don't, so it doesn't make him smarter than anyone else. I don't see what the big deal is. Cotto secured the best deal for himself, nothing for DiBella or other to complain about.
This article is really reaching for something that isn't there.Comment

Looks like nobody even read the article just saying Cotto deserves big $$$.

IMO, it's not about this bout but the next 1...this fight is nothing more than a measuring stick 2 c how much Cotto has lost.....4 yrs ago, Delvin would not have been considered, it was the 2 ESPN bouts that got him this bout, limited xposure, & a guy that stands in front of u, perfect 4 Cotto...Comment
