I never understood the hype. He has a couple decent wins including one over a drug cheat but he LOST to zab judah in a close fight... Zab judah is the gatekeeper at 140-147. He is still solid but usually loses to better fighters... I bet on garcia winning a close decision based on him losing to judah... I was right

I wouldn't say Lucas has never gone through adversity... the Ajose fight was a real war, plus he was robbed against Alexander and Judah, period. So that's adversity for you right there. I like the dude and I think his boxing skills and ability to cut off the ring and applying constant pressure are underrated.
Would be interesting to know what exactly caused the cut, maybe a thumb to the eye or something? If it was just the jab, then props to Danny, credit where credit's due. At any rate, it seemed to me that Lucas started to unravel and panic somewhat once his eye got shut. Keep in mind that a) he had a very good first couple of rounds and first half of the fight and b) even when he was limited by his eye injury, he just kept walking through Danny's best shots. I'm not 100% sold on the knockdown, which to me looked more like the result of Danny pulling Mathysse into the ropes, in a round that Lucas was winning up until then IMO... The scores were rather close. Damn, I'd just love to see a rematch, hahaha... But I hope for Danny that he gets the payday against Floyd, should he go up to Welterweight.

I used to doubt Danny Garcia as a legit contender and I was clear about that. A couple or few years ago he was on twitter calling out JMM and I told him that he don't want any part of that trouble. He got right back at me and said no its JMM who doesn't want any part of his troubles. I thought he was delusional, of course that was before he developed a decent left hook and started defying the odds fight after fight. Now I don't think he was so far out there when he was calling for a bout with JMM and I wouldnt bet my money against Danny versus anyone anytime soon. That guys finds away to win win and win some more.

I said it before, Matthysse beat who he was supposed to beat. People can bring up Alexander and Judah all they want but unless CJ Ross scored all six judges cards I'll go with the right person won those fights. KOing Mike Dallas might have looked spectacular but it was Mike Dallas. If the Peterson fight went on a little longer with a late KO I might have given him props but you didn't learn anything about Matthysse from that fight. On the other hand Garcia beat Holt who I thought would win that fight. Erik Morales kept hitting Garcia with the same punch over and over. I thought he would go any minute. Instead, Garcia gutted it out scored the KD and the eventually won. I was for sure he was the sacrificial lamb for Khan. Weak chin or not, that was a spectacular win. In case you forget Khan got back up and tried to keep fighting. Garcia kept his composure and finished him. Judah was game but Garcia was able to get a convincing win. Everything above game me the impression that Garcia had the edge in a fairly close match up.Last edited by HarvardBlue; 09-16-2013, 07:53 PM.

I expected Lucas to win, but also said Danny had a good shot cause he is a crafty kid with serious power.
Full props to Danny Garcia. He is the top guy at 140 and he got there the hard way. Good for him.
Lucas will be back, he has many highlight reel knockouts left in him.
