Depends on your outlook. I personally credit Oscar De La Hoya with only winning 4 weight division titles. He won the WBO lightweight and WBO middleweight championships but are they authentic world titles? Its logical that one would count the WBO title as a world title then you must count the WBU, IBO, IBC etc...
The WBO title is NOT a world championship just because Oscar held it!

Huh?? I thought the WBO was one of the four sanctioning bodies since 1988? Maybe I was just dreaming.

But who gives a flying **** about alphabet crap, anyway?

If you consider Oscar De La Hoya a former Middleweight Champion, you need to get your ****ing head checked. That would be like calling DLH a 5-division champ after he beat ****ing Javier Castillejo. Thankfully DLH went on to beat Vargas for the right to call himself a champion at 154. Beating Felix Sturm for a WBO belt does not make you a 6-division champ. It's like saying Wladimir Klitschko is a former heavyweight champion because he held the WBO title. What the **** ever. I hope some nobody wins WBO titles in 7 or 8 divisions (I know, a NOBODY couldn't do it, but it would be funny) just so he could say he was a 7 division champ.

Mayweather usually beats the top guy in his division to win a title and this is a much better credential. It would have been Zab being the top guy at welterweight but.....you know what happend there!
