No he's not, he enters the ring between '65 and '70... He made an issue about this when he was told by GBP he couldn't rehydrate past '64 or '65 when he fought Angulo but Angulo could rehydrate to whatever weight when they fought (essentially being '75). He's a true Jr. Middleweight and that's a reason GBP kept Canelo away from him.

But, I too agree that this is a fighter that has the best chance of beating Mayweather. Of course, he'll never get that shot, though.

If Canelo is a "flat-footed bag of mediocrity" then what is Angulo?

Lara got dropped twice by this dude. I wouldn't be surprised if Canelo beat him, and I'm a fan of both fighters.

I doubt Lara usually gets anywhere near 170.

A flat-footed bag of mediocrity that can punch. And Canelo beating Lara? He wouldn't beat Angulo.

Then why would he complain about not being able to rehydrate past '65 against Angulo?

Angulo is a ****in freight train. And Lara kicked his ass with a small ring and a one sided rehydration clause.

It's nearly been a week since Cuba's Erislandy Lara defeated Alfredo "El Perro" Angulo in Carson, California; when Angulo refused to continue in the tenth round. Now the new WBA interim super welterweight world champion talks to BoxingScene.com about some of the things that happened before and after the fight with Angulo. "First, I want to explain that a person came to us and told us clearly that on fight night I couldn't get into the ring with more than 10 pounds over the weight limit of our division. For that reason, we only went up to the limit of 164 pounds, but we were surprised that Angulo weighed 174 pounds that night, indicating to us that the 10 pounds limit was only for Erislandy Lara. We had no written clause to talk about this weight limit, but they told us that and we followed this instruction," Lara said.

Canelo beat Trout. Who has Angulo beaten exactly? He couldn't beat Cintron.

I like Lara but trying to hype him as a superior fighter than Canelo when he struggled against a worn down Angulo is just nonsense.

Far more impressive than beating Trout very controversially & nobody else of note.

Is Lara vs Trout still going ahead? Hopefully a win over Trout will be enough and if he beat him more decisively than Canelo did I think there is no excuse really.

Lara like Molina has a better resume than on paper, hes had some right b/s calls.
You're 100% right about Lara but its just not very likely. Floyd has fought DLH, Cotto and Canelo at jmw. Those were huge money fights. He's probably going to average about 2 million PPV buys in those 3 fights. Lara would have to beat Canelo and Cotto and it still won't be enough. Floyd will move back down to 147 most likely and finish his career there. There is probably a very, very small chance he fights Sergio but Lara just doesn't seem likely. Neither to be honest.
