Would a Floyd loss tonight be a bigger upset than Douglas/Tyson?

Of course not. Canelo is a very live underdog and many people even pick him to win,

1990-02-11I was only two years old when that fight took place lol.

Tyson vs Douglas was considered a mis-match. Did fans even give Douglas a chance at all??? Tyson was at that time the most feared man in the world. A devastating knockout machine all dressed in black who came to take your head off with every punch. Buster beating Tyson is one of the biggest upsets in boxing history.

No it wouldn't- First off, Floyd is not perceived as the unbeatable superman that Tyson was.

People thought that if God himself came down to fight, Tyson would still knock him out in a couple of rounds. People today are not even sure if Floyd could beat Pacquiao.

There's no comparison really, Floyd is getting older and people are talking about his age. Tyson was in his absolute prime when he lost and no one, I repeat no one, saw it coming.

The thing is this. In hindsight, we know that Tyson mentally was not always on point so his loss to Douglas is not a huge shock.. in hindsight.

Mayweather is known for being extremely dedicated to his training and having remarkable mental fortitude. If he were to lose to a slightly weight drained Canelo yes it would be a big upset. But then again he's not getting any younger.

            No.

I don't think you realize how much of an underdog Douglas was. To put it into context, it'd be like Floyd losing to Luis Collazo.

Douglas-tyson is the biggest upset of all time in sports not just in boxing,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Buster douglas became a household name after that

Tyson was an unstoppable machine, floyd is an aging guy fighting a bigger younger fighter who is pretty good,,

              Canelo>buster

                Funny thing is,,,

People say canelo too young and green to be in the ring with floyd

yet at 23 tyson was getting ko'd by douglas and had already destroyed everyone and unified the belts and been the man for a few years....

another example of how canelo isnt the next big thing,,, good fighter, but the next big thing would have destroyed hatton rhodes, gomez, shane, trout,,,,
like how tyson destroyed everyone at heavy
                floyd destroyed genara and manfredy
oscar destroyed jeff mayweather in his 5th fight, and also beat up genaro, leija, ruelas

The next big thing always looks dominant on the way up,,, canelo hasnt showed that dominance like other great fighters did early in their careers

I saw it live. I was stunned. I walked out of my apartment and couldn't believe it. You saw that Tyson was just loading and forgetting his jab (Bruno fight for example) but I never in a million years thought he would lose this.

Nobody gave Douglas a chance. Not a single chance.

Many people give Canelo a very strong chance

Not even that. I wasn't following boxing back then (only 4 years old) but when you read and watch documentaries you see that Buster Douglas was just another body bag waiting to happen on the way to a huge showdown between Holyfield and Tyson. Buster Douglas was a guy who had been known to underperform and nobody gave him a chance, ESPECIALLY when you consider what the perception of Mike Tyson was at the time: a young, undefeated, high-pressure, bobbing&weaving, combination-throwing,Thor-like power punching with the body of a bodybuilder Demi-god. Again, I wasn't following boxing back then but I can only imagine the hype surrounding a young Tyson.

...and he lost his first fight to an unknown...by knockout...in Japan.

                      WHAT...THE...****?
