Canelo is telling the truth and Ellerbe is lying. Canelo did offer to fight Mayweather at 152 pounds in 2011. Nobody but an idiot would assume that that had anything to do with negotiations for a 2013 fight. Canelo could make a lower weight in 2011. Team Mayweather has a proven record of lying and Canelo has never been shown to lie or contradict himself as Floyd so often does. Team Mayweather started off wanting this fight at 147 pounds as reported in boxing scene top headlines. Canelo had to bargain him up to 152. Floyd was never going to fight him at 154 so it was 152 or no fight. Of course Canelo wanted to fight at 154. The 152 catchweight is 100% team Mayweather's doing and if they had their way the weight would be 147 or 150.Comment

I don't think people understand what negotiations mean and then blame it on floyd.
the MANAGMENT of the fighters negotiate contracts
i DO believe they mentioned a rehydration clause
If i go to to buy a car my first offer is always a low ball! why? because i wanted to see how much the dealer is willing to come down. Do i think he is going to take it? NO way, but that way we work to a middle ground that ultimately we both feel are fair. If not, then i walk
the same concept can be used with any fight. Money the cash cow, the undefeated champion, the A-side of the ppv. Why do you act like he has to appease the demands of canelo.
If 152 is the contract signed then it was signed with both mayweather/canelo's team agreeing it was a fair deal. In canelo's case he had more incentive to walk than ANY other fighter because 1. he's young 2. he is a rising star. 3. as long as he keeps winning that fight is there in the future
Mayweather is not going to be like "Oh you want me to come to 154? no problem" "You want the ring 6x6? Sure" "I can only use my left hand? Ok sure, after all i am the best"
that's not how it works
With that said all of this is just more hype for the fight. Soon we'll be able to see for ourselves how it all plays outComment

Why are you speaking for every single Floyd fan when their opinions vary, as much as any other boxing fan, on an opponents fight night weight?Comment

i remember when pacquiao was falsely accused of having rehydration clause.
Now floyd fans want rehydration clauses.
you people make me sick.
SHAMELESS AND DISGUSTING.Comment

Don't know how true it is, because if you don't agree to Floyd's terms, the fight won't happen, hence the Pacquiao situation. But I honestly could give a damn about it, this whole weight thing From Floyd was weak from day 1, but it won't change the outcome. Floyd by UD or late stoppage.Comment

Take your pick, catchweight or rehydration. Don't try for both and then lie and say Alvarez wanted the catchweight, not you.
I agree with all of that, but my thing is what effect does this have on the fight night?? Is the rehydration clause in effect??
If not why is all of this being mentioned?? I always thought of Canelo as a MENTALLY sounded opponent not weak minded like a Ortiz or Judah, but it looks as if the opponent HIMSELF in Canelo is getting ready to make excuses in case he loses.
I'm actually less excited about this fight now, because it seems that one man has already admitted defeat.
