Comments Thread For: Mosley: Canelo Is Better Than Mayweather Thinks

One of the two common opponents Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Saul “Canelo” Alvarez have boxed believes Alvarez has a better chance to pull off an upset Saturday night than most people think.

Shane Mosley, one of the few foes to hurt the undefeated Mayweather in any of his 44 professional fights, was impressed and surprised by Alvarez’s diversity during their one-sided fight in May 2012.

“You can underestimate Canelo, you know, by his baby face, thinking, ‘OK, this guy can’t be on the same level [as me],’ ” Mosley said during the fourth and final episode of Showtime’s “All Access: Mayweather Vs. Canelo,” which debuted Wednesday night. “And then he can fool you. His punches felt pretty strong. One body shot he threw was very painful. … You would think that he’s just a power puncher, but then he can also box and counter, too. [Click Here To Read More]

    A Bridge Too Far?

I don't think Floyd underestimates Canelo: it's just part of his game-plan to pretend to. I do agree with Shane, though, that Canelo has a better shot in this than most people think. As boxing history shows ... everyone can lose (well...except Marciano, Calzaghe, etc...and they got the benefit of a close decision or two). Canelo's the biggest dude Floyd has faced, and he's definitely not one-dimensional. I will not be shocked if Canelo knocks Floyd out . . . but I ain't betting on it.

Mr. Alvarez is a brilliant fighter.
Taleb should have written a new chapter in his "The Black Swan" -- (Saul Alvarez, the red swan effect).

                It isn't just like that.
It's more like not having a supposed 154 lbs fight in the super middleweight division...

that seems to be the case, honestly. compare that to donaire & pac who ACTUALLY underestimated their opponents & got embarassed.

IF floyd loses, it would be because time finally caught up with him. or simply canelo outworks him.

I have to agree with Mosley on all he said.

What JR has NOT faced in over 8 years is PRIME ELITE WW or JWW SPEED, POWER and ABILITY

HATTON was certainly prime elite but NOT in the WW's but in JR WW, smaller than MAY jr. This is NOT a fair assesment of JR unless you are some bully type that goes around beating up on little folks. The you are a pain in the @$$

JMM was certainly a prime elite but NOT in the WW division or even close to it , he at the time was a hot FEATHERWEIGHT in the lightweight division. Maybe MR. Mayweather would like to explain WHY he made the fight at 146 and then happily chose with a F you attitude if you don't like , CHEAT on the Chubby little guy ???????? This is NOT a fair assesment of a TEST for JR for the same reasons above.

ODH BEAT JR hands down. ODH was elite, was at one time PRIME but he was Past all that and still beat JR with a tremendous defense, blocking JR's blows but in the last three rounds where ODH slowed down due to AGE, WARS etc........ ODH WAS ROBBED Straight UP !!!!! Something at the time I didn't have was dvr and slo mo and now having that it proves that ODH blocked those fast shots. I got to laughing at JR missing !!!!!!!!!

In each fight JR has made an edge OCCUR.

Hatton small couldn't fight in the WW's

                    JMM way to small

Ortiz, coming off a QUIT and it should have been Maidana

                    Mosley, too OLD, injured

                    Cotto too WORN OUT

is it not odd to you that Jr has not faced PRIME ELITE WW's ? Are you NOT cognizant of that AND that JR fighting great old or small champs ect.... make him LOOK better than he is ????

Most of you out there could go whip Ali right now, does that make you an ALL TIME GREAT ??????

Its ON in two DAYS. JR is fighting Canelo that fought a healthy Mosley 16 months ago ,the same Mosley that had JR nearly KO'd that couldn't hurt Canelo and he is telling us that an upset is in the making.

ITS like good ol George said : ITS CANELOS TO LOSE
