  • Floyd's resume is all good sans Marquez at WW and Baldomir
and Baldomir was legit, just not anything special
him having the title is what made that fight acceptable
it just didn't make it a win worth mentioning
Floyd ducked Tony, Cotto, and Pac when he shoulda fought them
he gets grilled for that, always will, and rightfully so
but with Pac being shot, who the hell is Floyd ducking now?
he's in the clear, there's nobody he really has to fight
so long as he's facing legit, ranked guys, nobody should complain
how much credit he gets for those guys is open to interpretation
but Ortiz was ranked, so was Guerrero, do is Alvarez
Floyd is doing just fine facing these guys

      • I've always said this and I'll say it again -

Pacquiao is the foreman at the orchards, but Floyd owns the land!

        Even Floyd agrees.

        • He admitted it but at least Canelo is not a handpicked opponent for a change

"I commend my team ... when I sit back and I think about my career, I say 'you know what? I had a cool career. I didn't take any punishment'.

So let me ask this, if a fighter doesn't have a promoter, who picks his opponents for him? If he's his own boss, doesn't he pick his own opponents? So wouldn't every fighter be a hand picked fighter? He chose to fight Alvarez, so isn't Canelo a hand-picked fighter?

              • So any fighter that makes him $70, $80, $90, $100 million for a fight is a cherry pick. Got it.

He has officially jumped the shark.

Alvarez is going to be a cherry-pick gone wrong and his hubris will be the undoing of him.

Context matters, doesn't it? The context of something can change the reality of what's being said can it not?

If Floyd came out holding hands with his boyfriend and said "I would like to announce that I'm ****sexual" then it's safe to say that's that is the case.

If a reporter said "There's rumours that your Finacee Miss Jackson is just for show and you're really a closet ****sexual" and he responded in a joking manner "Oh yes of course, these women around me are all for show, it's all to hide the fact I might swing the other way" It's entirely different is it not?

Both "quotes" ellude to the same thing but have completely different meaning. Thus, context.

When Floyd say's "If everyone thinks I'm a coward, then guess what? I'm a RICH coward" can you not see the obvious context that's being said in? That's he's not saying that literally?

And if you've seen the video that the quotes from this article have been taken from, it's pretty clear and obvious that it's not serious.

The fact this has to be broken down is baffling to me.
I've come to find that a lot of folks are very uneducated on these boards. You probably lost that guy when you used the word "context". You have to treat a lot of these posters like children. That or completely ignore them because they're just too simple to even hold a conversation.
