I don't know about the Euro scene, might be what he does... or just fight the lower end rated fighters of the WBO ratings.
If he does move to 140, he'll probably do it after Provo/Alvarado winner vacates. He has the number one position

So he'll fight Crawford an unknown fighter on the rise, but he won't fight Beltran, I guess you might as well be compensated when ass whooping is headed your way.
yeah i agree he's hot right now everybody knows he won so he will get a big opportunity

He can't go the domestic route, the WBO have said he has to fight his mandatory. He's not interested in the European scene anyway, he didn't want to fight Crolla for example and he's already beaten #7 Mitchell. He's a proud sort I think, he'll want to rematch Beltran but may be forced to face Crawford assuming he isn't stripped for inactivity due to injury.

Do you guys think Burns could beat Crawford? I don't think Crawford is some monster, but I don't think Burns would get more than 3 rounds on him. I do respect his tweet saying he's down for the rematch with Beltran though.

We'll see if the WBO strips him. They've done it before, but who knows. If they go to purse bid, I see Hearn making sure they get what they need

Based on what I've seen of Crawford, like you I think he would outpoint Burns, same for Vasquez and Abril.

              • Not sure why Team Burns would be willing to sacrifice the advantage of fighting at home including the added financial gain just to appease some moronic posters in this thread.

It's unfortunate for Beltran but he would have known coming into the bout the dangers of fighting abroad.

What's been the highlight of this thread is seeing Dirk going back and forth with his rival Stanly Ketchel. Thanks for the midday laugh gents.

                  • hahaha. Have to laugh at this! Yes, Burns boxed with a broken jaw but he was getting bashed before that and the pace of the fight didnt take any new direction. Beltran was bashing him up from the off!

                    • In case Burns will somehow recover, Beltran will not come to Scotland again -- there's no point in this.
Burns will continue to fight in his Highlander backyard the rest of his career -- if any. So it goes.
