So if all this is true why not fight in the US?!? Doesn't ****y Burns have a bigger following than Darren Barker? He just fought in AC and he had fans there.
Dude.. Let me explain the differences.
1) Geale was the champ. that plays a part.
2) Geale has American TV money backing him which outweighs British by quite a lot.
3) Geale has a big promoter behind him. Beltran's promoter knows he's not worth anything, which is why he keeps feeding him to the lions.
Bertran has none of those, most importantly, point 2 and 3. At least not anyone who wants to put money out there for him, otherwise he wouldn't fight away all the time! How can you not understand this?
If HBO came along and put millions in the bank, Ricky Burns would happily pack his bags.
The reality of all this is Ricky burns got exposed in his last two fights and he ducked the **** out of broner before that, he can keep his paper title and keep fighting bums in the UK. He oughtta work on his defense especially with a titanium plate in his jaw
It very much is the point. No one is going to make a fight in the US just for the sake of Beltran. The fight will happen where it makes the most financial sense and that will be in Scotland. It's simple common sense.
Chilemba, I felt got a raw decision against Bellew in the first fight. What happened? He came back to the UK for the rematch. Same thing will likely happen here unless Burns goes in a different direction.
Tony Thompson is a better example. He beat a big prospect, yet everybody in the us continued not to give a *** about him

You don't know what the financial terms. You think it'll make more financial sense, but you don't know what HBO or SHOWTIME would offer to see Burns fight.
As a matter of fact, I've been reading for a couple of years on how good Burns is and how they want to bring Burns to the US.
My guess is, that after this performance they are in no rush to move Burns to the US.
If we remove finance, which you have no idea what they are, the FAIR thing to do, the RIGHT thing to do, is to bring Burns to the US and have him fight Beltran in a rematch.
Of course, life isn't fair, but Burns was exposed and robbed blindly, and it seems that Burns and his team have no shame in the decision whatsoever, which is fine, but what happened IS shameful.

Well I do know because it's common sense.
The only way they were going to bring Burns to the US would be for a huge payday against someone like an Adrien Broner or maybe a Crawford as he seems to be getting tv backing.
Not for Raymundo Beltran - a journeyman sparring partner who no one cares about.
