  • Comments Thread For: Malignaggi: Pay Me Like Haymon Fighters and I'll Fight!

BoxingScene caught up with Paulie Malignaggi who has been doubling as a prize fighter and boxing commentator for some time now and has had major success in both. But the former WBA Welterweight champion may not get in the ring anytime soon if the offers he’s given aren’t to his financial liking.

Malignaggi was adamant about getting a rematch with Adrien Broner after losing a split decision to him this past June but those plans were spoiled as Broner informed BoxingScene he was not interested in a second fight. It was then reported that a fight with Malignaggi and fellow Brooklyn native Zab Judah might be in the works as the co-feature for December 7th on the proposed Devon Alexander-Amir Khan bout.

When Paulie was asked about his next fight and possibly fighting Zab Judah, he informed it would depend if he was properly compensated and if he wasn’t, he had no problem not fighting again. [Click Here To Read More]

Paulie, people didn't tune it to watch you. It was Broner.

Paulie is a sissy. I'd whoop his a$$ in a streetfight.

Stick to commentating Paulie. You're actually good at it. You can't punch to save your life.

paulie does have some leverage. he doesn't need to fight. showtime surely pays him well. not as well as fighting, but well enough that it will help him through retirement and allow him to live very comfortably. paulie has been a world class boxer for a long time now. he's had big fights with cotto, broner, hatton, senchenko, khan, and juan diaz twice. if he was smart with his money he should have several million in net worth. malignaggi's purse for the broner fight, for example, was 1.1 million. after taxes, management, and trianing, that goes down, but he's still pulling in hundreds of thousands a year when he's fighting.

                Paulie isn't needed in boxing

Paula is not needed or wanted in boxing. Paulie has no fan base and turns fans off with his greasy look and gansta antics and slang talking. Not even sure why Paula is announcing. Plus he cannot fight.

he did decent against broner. looked like garbage against cano for sure.

i wouldn't be surprised at all if paulie were to fight again. judah in BK would be a decent sized fight, and a great co-feature.

he's probably just posturing a bit for some more money. it might sound trivial, but if refusing their first offer made you an extra 100K, you'd do it to. hell, i'd do it for 1K, rofl. it's a negotiation. you take what you can get.
