All I can say is big props to Burns for a valiant effort, but he lost that fight no doubt, titere Vasquez schools this dude.

Just imagine breaking your jaw in R2 then fighting on in bone crunching agony for 10 more rounds against a heavy puncher. Say what you want about the result but Ricky Burns has balls of steel.

Kind of ironic that it was an American judge that scored it for Burns.

Either way last nights decision delivered another black eye to the sport and will make fighters think twice before fighting in that part of the world (Re:Ref). If they man up like they should and grant Ray a re-match they should keep it right here in the USA and hire honest judges with no agenda.
Yeah because the USA only has honest judges with no agenda

It's time to let computers do the judging. Program in existing scoring systems, 10 point must, or other, with punch count and damage assessment, averaging all the data. Upgradable with 3 or 4 camera angles, centralized computer, autonomous, the works. Apply it next to current judging until it gets zoned in and then alone. You will never make everybody happy, but it might eliminate some of these really bad decisions.

... Props for Beltran also needed. I didn't know him... But I closely watched the fight... During the fight, Beltran heard Burns crying in pain and he didn't look like he wanted to finish the Scot out... I think Beltran did enough to win and I think he waited for Burns to quit eventually. But Burns stood his ground like a true Highlander... The public in the arena displayed fair play.
Bad luck for everybody -- except for Hearn...

Beltran should have done something if he knew the ref wasn't going to ref the whole fight. Why the hell they have that dude in the ring anyway

I don't think it's usually quite that straightforward. It's more like the Judges are 'guests' of the promoter who's making the fight. They know that the level of hospitality they receive and future dealings with the promoter may depend on their verdict. These are guys who make perhaps not a living, but certainly a comfortable sideline out of judging and or reffing.

Part of the answer, certainly in ABC title fights where the judges are selected by the sanctioning body, is to have judge expenses and hospitality paid for by the sanctioning body out of enhanced fees.
