Seth needs to move on to his next endeavor...the man's got no chin ! He's gonna be a heavyweight boxer and take punches from 250 pound guys with no chin...when they announced the Arreola fight, I said, these guys are trying Seth killed .
If you grow up boxing you can develop a chin. Your skull will literally get harder from all the punches you take early in life. It also builds pain tolerance.
At 25, your chin is set in stone. Even the most strict training in the world would only make a marginal difference at best.
Taking shots to the head when your brain and cranium is undeveloped won't help you become resistant to brain injury from punches, or develop a better chin. If you are concussed or experience severe brain injury while young, it affects your brain's development. People with undeveloped brains ("small brains") cannot take as much force without being KO'd because their brains are unstable inside the cranium (the brain is damaged by excessive movement/bouncing inside the cranium walls).
First, **** you then, since you want to be a clown about it. A great athlete is a great athlete in his sport, for reference, look at Jordan. A complete bum in baseball who only got to play minor league baseball simply because of who he was. Yea, he was great in basketball, but in other sports he wasn't. Bo Jackson was a great multisport athlete, Deion Sanders, a great multisport athlete. Dave Winfield, great multisport athlete. But theres a difference. Being great at one, doesn't automatically translate into being great at something else.
Secondly, where did I suggest there are no good big athletes in america?
Since you can't comprehend basic english, maybe you're the mentally challenged one.
I can be cool as a summer breeze, but I can be a **** to you too. If you don't like the way the thread is going, just say your piece about it, no need to try and put someone down just because you don't like what is said.
Lastly, you're speaking in general terms of what kids dream about. Kids dream of being all kinds of things. To say they only dream of being this or that is being completely out of touch with reality.
Now I'm not saying there isn't any NFL player who couldn't have made it big had he started young, I'm saying, its not as widespread as people make it out to be. In the past 30 years, in my estimation, there may be one great hw out of all of those players. Maybe two. Most people here seem to think you can just pluck any guy out of a football lineup, rewind his life and make him Joe Frazier.
Its just not that simple.
You still don't get it and no need to get your panties in a ruffle, I called you ******ed.
I can say kids are not dreaming of becoming HW champion because I see it everyday. I train amateurs and when I was fighting, the venues were full. Now, you are fighting in front of very few people, boxing is not main stream anymore.
Proof is in the numbers, it's that simple. I'm not saying there aren't any kids wishing this, but not enough to continue to produce the great champs we were in the 80's and before.
The point is, it's not about NFL players being so tough and great they can just put on gloves and win world titles. It's about NFL athletes being NFL athletes and not starting young to be boxers.
mitchell and wilder are talented guys for HW boxing. they are not special at all in the american sporting landscape. they are a dime a dozen in the NFL and NBA. they started boxing as grown men. wilder can literally barely box. wilder won bronze at the olympics, and mitchell is a top 25 HW. chazz witherspoon, for instance, comes from a boxing family, and has been boxing since he was a kid. mitchell stopped him.
In that case, you can act like a typical american with a biased point of view.
But yea, lets just act like there isn't a search for the next great american hw. I'm pretty sure that has nothing to do with these guys getting chances.

ok time for bed.
I didn't say that though. Boxing may not be like it was in the 80s, but its naive and biased to say the rest of the world hasn't caught up. Or do you believe americans are the only beneficiaries of medical and sporting advancements? Why can't it be, that kids just aren't as tough as they used to be and can't handle being punched in the face? Funny thing is, I've seen you say plenty of times how soft the youth and the younger generations have become.
But you turn around and say you believe the NFL is stealing great HWs because boxing isn't mainstream?
lol
No, its because they don't have what it takes to be fighters from the jump. Fighters are a completely different breed of athlete. And its that simple.

nobody is saying that American networks aren't looking for american HW. american networks looking for american fighters is something a child cries about.
what's being said is that wilder and mitchell are talented, and they are not unique. there are hundreds, if not thousands of mitchells and wilders. do you think mitchell would have been on hbo if he didn't win his first 20 or so fights?
keep on crying, though. and in between sob sessions, can you actually watch an NBA or NFL game?
a history of the HW world championship. notice the american flags. i don't expect any of you to actually care about the history of the sport, but here it is:

How do you know they dont? LOL that's the point man, I can't beat this drum to death anymore. You just don't get it and refuse to get it.
Look, the world has caught up, but let's not act as if America doesn't produce great athletes the world over. Everyone calls American fat and ******, yet they continue to dominate in the Olympics and on the world stage.
The reality is, boxing is NOT mainstream in America anymore. Kids aren't lining up to fight in gyms, they are out there wanting to be the next great quarterback, running back or great basketball player.
This generation is weak compared to the one's past, there's no doubt about that. That also doesn't mean there aren't still young, good, strong, tough kids in America. There are, just fewer and farther between.
That's my point, you have to play the percentages. The more kids want to box, the more chances you will find the next Ali, Frazier or Joe Lewis.
Right now you have a better chance of finding the next Kobe Bryant.
Why do you think Mexico keeps producing great fighters? Because boxing is still mainstream in Mexico and it's in the heart of the people and culture. It's not like that in the U.S anymore, sorry but it's not.
