I still can't phatham how Mitchell was WBC #2
That is proof of how bad the HW division really is now.

It's not about them being American football players, that has nothing to do with it. A great athlete is a great athlete no matter the sport. The difference is, you have to dedicate yourself to boxing very early if you are to be great.

You are trying to suggest there are no good big athletes in America? HAHAHA I mean do you know how absurd that sounds? Do you know what the NFL, NBA are?

Boxing is not main stream anymore, that's the problem. Kids aren't dreaming of becoming the next Mike Tyson, they are dreaming of being the next Lebron James, and Adrian Peterson.
First, **** you then, since you want to be a clown about it. A great athlete is a great athlete in his sport, for reference, look at Jordan. A complete bum in baseball who only got to play minor league baseball simply because of who he was. Yea, he was great in basketball, but in other sports he wasn't. Bo Jackson was a great multisport athlete, Deion Sanders, a great multisport athlete. Dave Winfield, great multisport athlete. But theres a difference. Being great at one, doesn't automatically translate into being great at something else.

Secondly, where did I suggest there are no good big athletes in america?
Since you can't comprehend basic english, maybe you're the mentally challenged one.

I can be cool as a summer breeze, but I can be a **** to you too. If you don't like the way the thread is going, just say your piece about it, no need to try and put someone down just because you don't like what is said.

Lastly, you're speaking in general terms of what kids dream about. Kids dream of being all kinds of things. To say they only dream of being this or that is being completely out of touch with reality.

Now I'm not saying there isn't any NFL player who couldn't have made it big had he started young, I'm saying, its not as widespread as people make it out to be. In the past 30 years, in my estimation, there may be one great hw out of all of those players. Maybe two. Most people here seem to think you can just pluck any guy out of a football lineup, rewind his life and make him Joe Frazier.

        Its just not that simple.

mitchell started boxing after a bombed collegiate football career because of injuries. he was a grown man. most guys who start that late in boxing never even turn pro.

nobody is saying that muhammad ali is in the NBA right now. the argument held by virtually every boxing expert in america is that the talented big men in america no longer box. they play football and basketball. they used to box. that cannot be disputed.

deontay wilder went to the f#cking olympics with 14 amateur fights. he has a ton of talent. deontay wilder is a dime a dozen in college basketball.
Or, is it a testament to him being american and getting more chances than someone who isn't? As it is, there has been an ongoing search for the next great american hw.

But nah, lets just say that hes incredibly phenomenal. Sounds more american that way.

Thats what the point of this thread is about. There is a different toughness required in different sports.

you can act like a child if you want, man.

mitchell and wilder are talented guys for HW boxing. they are not special at all in the american sporting landscape. they are a dime a dozen in the NFL and NBA. they started boxing as grown men. wilder can literally barely box. wilder won bronze at the olympics, and mitchell is a top 25 HW. chazz witherspoon, for instance, comes from a boxing family, and has been boxing since he was a kid. mitchell stopped him.

A guy that lacks boxing toughness is Victor Ortiz he quits when the going gets tough; I don't see that in Seth Mitchell I see a guy with horrible punch resistance not a guy lacking boxing toughness if he always just laid down I could whole heartly agree. I do agree with you that you just can't pick up the sport and just be great its catching up with Sergio Martinez also now.
