The ref allowing him to hold like Henry Akinwande helped a little bit.
Is Burns Jaw Injury a Legit Excuse

Yeah!! He showed a lot of heart holding!! If your gonna show heart you fight, not cover up and hold. You gotta go out there and try, if your not then don't come out of your cornerComment

He broke his jaw in combat, so it's not an excuse. Quite frankly, Ray is too well-schooled for him and would beat a healthy Burns too, which says a lot about the standard of British boxing when Pacquiao's sparring partner comes here and utterly schools one of the few champs we have left.
I wouldn't diminish the courage it took to keep fighting on with such a bad injury. But let's keep it real - he wanted to quit, and it was only the foresight of his trainer (knowing that a robbery was still a possibility) who managed to get him a draw.Comment

Couldn't have put any better. People are forgetting it was Beltran who did the damage to Ricky's jaw!He broke his jaw in combat, so it's not an excuse. its pretty difficult to fight with a broken anything. So of course he's not at his best if you break something early in the fightComment
