I hate when people blame the fighter for a robbery instead of the promoters/judges/referees/sanctioning bodies, etc.

Burns did his job which was to fight for 12 rounds.

      • I know everybody is saying that a fighter can't get a fair call in the UK, but actually it is everywhere. The promoters that put on the card protects their own interests and any fighter that agrees to a fight has to realize they might get screwed.

They should make a rematch and the WBO should order it to be on neutral ground.

        • Had it 7-5 Beltran with the kd in his favor the rounds won by both men looked pretty clear to me and Beltran clearly won the fight.

          • I'm from the UK, and whilst Ricky is one of the nicest guys in the business, he was shockingly poor last night and the way he got to keep his title was an absolute disgrace. I scored it 115-112 Beltran. You could tell by the reaction of the crowd that they had just witnessed a crime. I've tweeted Eddie Hearn asking how much he paid Ortiz. I don't expect a reply.

PS and people think Floyd would come over here to fight Amir Khan... :blow:

OOps I think I clicked reply on the wrong person.

It's tough on Ray because I think Beltran won the physical fight, Burns couldn't hurt him and he dislocated his jaw but scored on rounds Burns was putting work in and won enough of them to level it imo.

Again, I'm not saying Burns won. I thought the fight was a draw.
Same, Beltran definitely finished off the fight as the less affected guy but Burns did enough to win an equal share of rounds. I had Beltran winning by a point due to the KD, without that the fight is a draw. I can see people scoring it for Beltran by 2 or 3 points which is understandable but any more than that and it's ridiculous.

              • Gutted for Beltran. Hard not to be after the interview he gave.

Btw, Burns's jaw is clean broken.

Ouch. We can't let the decision keep us from acknowledging Burns' heart.

On the face of it, yes. I think people have to take into consideration that he had to deal with a broken jaw for 10 rounds, which clearly hampered his game plan. I knew something was wrong when Ricky kept holding. He is a big strong lad at the weight, and he is usually quite comfortable fighting on the inside.

That said, it happened and Beltran clearly won on the night.
