Comments Thread For: Richard Schaefer Hits Back at Gennady Golovkin's Trainer

Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer has read several pieces on BoxingScene.com where Abel Sanchez, trainer for IBO/WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (27-0, 24KOs), was highly critical of WBO middleweight champion Peter Quillin (29-0, 21KOs) and WBA super middleweight king Andre Ward.

Sanchez, while speaking to BoxingScene.com's Bill Emes, directed some fire at Quillin, who wants to face Golovkin in a unification encounter.

He'd still get paid more to fight him in a main event on HBO than an undercard on Showtime. Why are you attacking GGG's drawing power when Quillin has never headlined a card, at least not one I can remember.

No comment on Quillen avoiding GGG, who is obviously the bigger name at this point. Quillen, keep running: GGG would decimate you.

They're still mad that GGG is headlining his own card while they search for bums to feed to Kid Ducklate for scraps. He's so mad that he actually used Ward, an HBO fighter to feed his "argument".

There's video out there where Quillin directly admits he will not fight GGG. That's okay for Golden Boy though considering there's always roasted snail vendors like n'dam n'jikam he can go life and death with on an undercard.

Let's see what kind of ratings a fight headlining Quill in does.

Abel has been very mouthy as of late, I hope he isn't turning into the next Freedie Roach in this regard.

GGG hasn't even fought an opponent that would warrant high ratings. What's the point in bringing up numbers? He's essentially a guy that HBO is showcasing, because he's the real deal, and is a complete bad ass.

Let him beat up Quillen, and watch how many new fans he'll have.
