Very seldom is this the case. Generally, when you're as (basically) undefeated as Donaire was, your first loss being as bad as it was, you're probably going to take a tune-up fight that you know you'll win. Losing can become habitual, believe it or not. Give Donaire time to bring his confidence back up to the fighter he was instead of instantly throwing him back in with the sharks.

Besides, he's making drastic adjustments in training camp since the Rigo fight. He plans to work with Garcia full time instead of the last week in training camp.

Also, for those of you acting like his shoulder injury is fake or minor, you're only displaying complete ignorance. I am in the medical field, and the fact that a physician suggested surgery for Donaire's shoulder show's it was fairly significant. Otherwise, if it were minor, he could simply go through physical therapy and be through with it.

No, I am not being biased. Hilariously enough, I've been riding the Rigo train since he turned pro and have always been rather 'meh' toward Donaire. I'm just incredibly annoyed at the ignorance and double standards "fans" place on fighters.
Actually Rigo is his second career loss

What damn statement? Knock out a 37 year old fighter who's too small for 126, that he knocked out in five six years ago? This rematch makes me sick on so many levels....

A statement... hmmm you mean like the last one where he was like I'M NOT THAT GREAT!
Even though he cheated he got Rigo to help him with his last statement.

People hated Donaire before the fight and his excuses after the fight made it worse.

There is no doubt that the guy is a pound for pound talent and has accomplished so much in this sport. I respect him as a fighter but this fight is bull****. There are plenty of legit featherweight contenders that he could fight as "tuneups" especially considering a title shot awaits him should he beat a guy that doesn't even contend at 126.

This is the oldest trick in the book. Pick an opponent that he can score a spectacular knockout over to try and refuel the hypetrain.

I really liked Donaire before he tried damn near every possible way to weasel out of the Rigondeaux fight. He threatened to run and fight Vic on twitter at least twice leading up to the fight, and then we see the endless excuses ever since. He hasn't exactly been endearing to the public with his behavior since the fight either.

This is about the worst fight they could have possibly made. It was universally agreed to be a garbage rematch when Donaire was using it as a threat pre-Rigo. What makes it a viable match now?

HBO should be held accountable for showing needless rematches like this and ALvarado/Rios. There are plenty of other FW for Nonito to fight. It appears his promoter and HBO know he isn't skilled enough to beat them so they put this **** on the air and sell it.

Sadly, nonito's fans only watch to see him KO someone. They could care less if he has to fight opponents who actually make him work in the ring for a win.

Nonito should've taken a fight with JuanMa. Lopez was seeking a fight with him, and Donaire could use a fight with a recognized yet vulnerable opponent. It would've been mutually beneficial. But Nonito wasn't willing to take the slightest of chances. Instead, he took the easiest possible way out.
