And the fact that Mayweather wanted the fight at 147/150 and then settled on 152 goes against his statement "I want a fighter to be at his natural, comfortable weight. I don't do Catchweights." But we know he is a hypocrite, even some of his fans showed dignity and said they don't agree with Floyd. But some fans sank with that ship and went down in embarrasing flames when they were the ones for 3 years crying and yapping about Pac vs Cotto and then tried to justify Mayweather doing the same thing.

Schaefer is the CEO of Golden Boy, Canelo is the "Golden Child" of Golden Boy. Haymon is a business partner and representative of Mayweather.. How is this so unbelievable, controversial, and unfathomable to you that these two initiated discussions on what it would take for these two fighters to get in the ring? Schaefer and Haymon make a lot of these fights happen between Mayweather and the "next big thing" Golden Boy fighters.

On record, I'm a Mayweather fan, but not a blinded, bias boxing fan because of it. I give credit when it's due, and I don't hate opposing fighters because of it. I love this sport too much to let my love for one fighter blur my ability to appreciate the skill of others. I feel many other should do the same. I wish others would on this board too..

All that being said, as a mayweather fan I'll admit, accepting the catchweight is indeed hypocritical. now, I don't bash him like many of you are because it's something that was offered and that he accepted. It's actually quite different from the pacquiao comparisons you guys are bringing up. Pacquiao never fought somebody this big, who will come into the ring with a 20 lb weight advantage (see, this is the fan in me coming out ). Also, there's no record of Mayweather demanded a CW or no fight. What we have is Team Canelo saying one thing, and Team Money saying another. Accepting a CW is quite different than demanding one.. Even then, I'll agree that it's hypocritical that he accepted it when he clowned Pacquiao for doing it many times before

No one said Hayman and Schafer do not make a fight happen between Floyd and the opponent but NO ONE NEGOTIATES A FIGHT WITHOUT ANYONE FROM THE OTHER SIDE INVOLVED!! Schafer is not the fighter, the manager, or the trainer and he cannot do all the negotiations without someone from team Canelo. At the very LEAST, Canelo's Manager would be present. Especially when it comes to disagreements right from the start!!!!! It is very simple, Floyd asked for 147, team Canelo confirmed this, articles support this. Then he asked for 150 and there are articles that support this. Schafer took the credit for making the fight at 152. There was a back and forth on the weight issue and a back and forth does NOT only include Hayman and Schafer! That is absurd. If weight wasn't the issue then Floyd should have fought Canelo at 154 no matter what they said. Team Mayweather admits that they wanted the advantage. Not a good thing to say considering Mayweather always wants credit for the opponents he beats. 154 would have been the better choice but 152 shouldn't hurt a young guy like Canelo if he goes about his weight with the right attitude. Fight is happening in 10 more days. Can't wait.

1. I'm not the one that posted that article, I was responding to it because someone else posted it.

2. The point is, it's a quote coming from Canelo's trainer, which isn't exactly a neutral source. So, when saying something negative about the opposition, i take it with a grain of salt. There's not telling whether or not it's a 100% correct. You can believe it all you want, I choose not to believe rumors..

And, to make it clear I'm not being bias, same goes for Mayweather's corner. Anything that Roger or Floyd Sr. say or claim about Canelo's side of the negotiations is pure speculation

You're making it seem as if Schaefer and Haymon wrote the contract, and signed it for Mayweather and Canelo man. There's not some big conspiracy going on here. Schaefer and Haymon, representing both sides respectfully, both laid down the ground for what it would take for each side to be happy. Schaefer most likely expressed Canelo's wishes, and Haymon did for Mayweather. They drafted initial proposals, then presented them to each side. This happens all the time. Why are you acting as though Schaefer and Haymon somehow twisted the contract to completely side with Mayweather and then forced Canelo to sign it or something? They simply established the ground, the presented it to each side.. Each side expressed their pros and cons, and they ironed it out TOGETHER, then SIGNED... Chill out man, Canelo knows what he's in for, he agreed to EVERYTHING, and signed.. So did Mayweather. THere's no conspiracy going on here.

No way to worm out of this one. Fact is Mayweather is getting older and he definitely was looking for an advantage. He knows Canelo is a dangerous fight for him. Mayweather is adamant on crowning Manny Pacquiao the catchweight king. Claiming he wants to beat fighters at their comfortable weight. So why would you even accept a catchweight? Would that not be an excuse after the fight?

The reason is he knows that this is a tough fight for him at 36 and he was looking for an advantage. Will it actually make a difference? Probably not. But the fact that Mayweather is looking for an advantage should be a sign that they aren't taking Canelo lightly.
