10,000 curious people out to see the show. but i doubt if there would be 10,000 people out to see him fight.

He would have had the same fate as Gamboa did if he left Arum.

Two times in Rigo's case. I wouldn't say it's easy but I agree the family part is tougher to deal with.

There's no doubt, Arum knows what he's doing. He wouldn't intentionally miss out on an opportunity to make money, except maybe if Rigo was a ****, but even the best are wrong from time to time. While I agree Guille is probably a tough sell on cable, he's got to be marketable in Miami. C'mon. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that one out. The real question is why?

I don't think that Arum doesn't think hes completely not marketable...it's just Rigo is looking for pay days equal to or higher than his donaire fight....which is unrealistic. He can get shows on hbo and such and be showcased if he wants 250-300k a fight....looking for 750k-1mil purses is not a number thats marketable.... at least that's how I view it.

This is one of the smartest things I've read on the subject. It's speculation, but I can totally see how it's possible. Rigo seems to have a very high opinion of his position. I can envision how he's being unreasonable in his expectations. There aren't too many other theories that seem to make sense. Everyone else repeats the same old shit: there's no market, Rigo's boring, yada, yada, yada.

Why is that they never announce these things ahead of time? I always find out after the fact. That idea of having Rigo do that fight at that Hialeah casino would be a great idea as that area is basically Cuban town over there. I wish there was a way that they could do a Rigo/Gamboa/Lara fight card over there to start establishing that as the venue for Cuban fighters.

Me, too. Rigo-Gamboa would be an awesome co-feature. I mentioned it earlier in this thread. Lara is with GBP, so he's out of the question. Throw in a couple of lesser Cuban fighters in there and you've got yourself a guaranteed sellout.
