People went there to see a concert but it was a good oppotunity to introduce to that crowd a countryman who has achieved some boxing greatness that many of them may not be aware. This is actually good for boxing.

i don't disagree when you say that this is good for boxing and rigondeaux. lots of those people had probably never heard of rigondeaux prior to the concert. now they've been introduced to him during an event that they're enjoying, adn that they see as purely cuban.

it doesn't prove anything about his drawing power, though, the way a lot of posters in the thread are asserting (not you, unc.)

That was an awesome turnout at the Hialeah Park Casino. I saw the commercial for it's grand re-opening the night before. It looked pretty appealing. The crowd of 10,000 was there to see the popular Willie Chirino put on a salsa concert. But as a couple of people have pointed out, it was great PR for Rigo. Most of the people at the event probably don't even know who Guillermo is, so they got some exposure to him. Those that did know Rigo might've had their interest sparked a little more. There's no doubt whatsoever in my mind that a properly managed card in South Florida would gain an excellent response.

Agreed. You got your post up as I was writing mine. If there were even two thousand people there with any interest in boxing, they took note of who Rigo was, if they didn't know him already. I'm glad Guille took the opportunity to mention bringing a fight to Hialeah. And I'll bet anything that idea came from Boris Arencibia, his co-promoter. It sure didn't come from Arum. Caribe Promotions is obviously trying whatever they can to raise Rigo's stock, while ol' Bob publicly disses his own fighter.

True any PR is good for Rigo or any fighter.

In reality, he can't draw a crowd of 1,000, but his boxing skills are tremendous though.

LOL init, everyone here saying his mad popular, I bet the vast majority of the crowd didn't know who he was, that's no disgrace, Rigo is a very good boxer but he's no star.

NOW JUST GET IN THE RING AND FIGHT ALREADY, I MISS YOUR DAMN SILKY SKILLS !

Whoever thought of this PR idea is doing a great service for boxing. Just hoping rigo is aware of the real score.
