Comments Thread For: Canelo Alvarez and His Team Head To Las Vegas

Earlier today, WBC/WBA junior middleweight champion Saul " Canelo" Alvarez and members of his team, including Ramon and Ricardo Alvarez, left their camp in Big Bear, California to travel over to Las Vegas. On September 14th at the MGM Grand, Canelo will face Floyd Mayweather Jr. in the headline fight of Showtime's big pay-per-view. Canelo started training for this fight in the first week of May in his native Guadalajara. The group hired a nutritionist and a physical trainer to ensure Canelo will have no problem making the catch-weight limit of 152-pounds. Canelo's team expect him to be withing range of 154-pounds by next Sunday.

Stop spreading bad science. Canelo would have to live at elevation for a year to get any real benefits.

It's not even that simple. Everybody reacts differently to the altitude. Some studies actually indicate that it's better to live at high altitude and train at low altitude, and others suggest that there's no overall benefit.

In any case, this isn't the first time Canelo has trained in Big Bear so given his history of stamina issues, I don't think altitude really helps him much. His naturally stocky frame and the fact that he's cutting so much weight to make 154 probably negate any benefits from altitude training if there even are any.

Don't matter where he trains, elevation may improve his stamina but it won't improve his skill.

dude by.far canelo is the most skilled fighter floyd has ever fought, from his ability to slip and weave punches is amazing, floyd will have a hard timw catching canelo as well, and floyd gonna see a different offense he has never seen, canelo is one of the best combination punchers ive ever seen, these angles he throws his punches from are gonna confuse floyd, mayweather does the same crap every fight, nothing different, straight right dip to the left, canelo will slip.that and catch him with an uppercut...watch 2 weeks baby,2 weeks!
