So then why didn't Floyd ask Cotto to fight him at 150-151 CW? Everyone knew that Cotto wanted to fight Margarito at that weight. So Floyd could have used that too against Cotto but he didn't. Why ? Because he thought that he can beat Cotto at that weight

but with Canelo he wanted some added reassurance.

They started the talks for this fight asking Floyd to fight Canelo for the WBA super champ 154 pound title at the full weight of 154. Floyd Sr. said that Canelo had to make 147 or no fight. After about two months of Schaefer trying to put the fight together the two sides agreed on a catchweight of 152. Canelo had no choice. It was agree to 152 or no Mayweather fight. Canelo's team never asked for or wanted to fight at even one ounce lower than 154 unless you are counting what they said about two years ago. There was no way Floyd was ever going to fight Canelo without a catchweight. My source for this information is Boxing Scene Top Headlines and I have read it daily for the last few years.
Really this fight was signed 26 days after Floyd beat Guerrero

Pretty much this. The excuses from the money team when it comes to the weight are laughable.

well, they wanted to land a floyd fight.....and they made that a selling point....

it is also about the greens, man....$$$$$........

but saying floyd is floyd that will always take an advantage at every turn can be taken both ways.....being smart......or being a cherry pick....take your pick...

No. Simply no. Floyd wanted Cotto and Cotto said 154 or no fight - plus Cotto demanded 10oz gloves. If you demand a fight with another champion you have to go by his terms or settle in the middle if possible. Just like when Floyd wanted DLH and DLH said "yes... On my terms".

Canelo has been calling Floyd out and even said that he would go down to 150. That was in the 4th quarter of 2011.

How an earth can [team] Mayweather be this insecure to demand; and then throw pathetic excuses and lies to defend it?

They hope Alvarez will be drained. Plain and simple.

floyd Sr said he wouldnt do the fight unless it was at 147. I think canleos team had to start throwing out options to get the fight done.

Floyd really just should of fought him at 154. He looks like a fool now saying that cotto wasnt his best and weight drained against pac. The exact same thing now applies to him and canelo. SMH.
