What did he say that wasn't the truth?

A year or two ago, Canelos manager said they would fight at a catch weight so Ellerbe did his research and used his own words against him.

Lesson learned, don't ever negotiate in the media. Ask Chad Dawson.

****** question.. regardless of who asked for what weight there is always a penalty for both fighters in case they come in over weight. every single fight.

the sum depends on how much they are making for the fight, this is a huge fight with both fighters making a lot of money hence the penalty reflects that.

      think, dude..

So.........................what about what he said 3 months ago, does that count for anything? Funny how people are relying on something stated 3 years ago.

Canelo Alvarez: "I'm willing to fight him but I won't walk away from my division, it would have to be at my weight."

I wouldn't be surprised if Frank Ducketts was Ellerbe.

Just be honest people. We all know who "asked" for the catchweight, don't try to spin it now. Floyd senior was recorded several times publicly stating he wanted Canelo to drop to 147. How about we rely on comments made withing the last 3 months as opposed to something stated 3 years ago.

Then Canelos team should have brought that up. Further proving Ellerbes statements that they are inept.

Yeah ok, just like Floyd's statements that he doesn't rely on catchweights. So I guess that makes Floyd himself inept or just a liar, huh?

Pretty easy to pick and choose statements as long as they suit your particular agenda I assume.

I would say that statements from 3 months ago are more relevant than statements from 2011. There's no way to spin this where Alvarez wanted a catchweight, he just agreed to it because otherwise he wasn't getting the fight.

Of course. Both sides go to the negotiating table with an agenda. Don't lawyers have agenda a when they represent their clients?

Nah man, you and Ellerbe are spinning like "you said it so we are gonna hold you to it" Well, the same can be said for Mayweather. The bottom line is Floyd wanted this fight at 147 and it was negotiated UP to a catch weight of 152, that wasn't what team Canelo wanted, that's what they acquiesced to in order to make the fight happen.
