Comments Thread For: Chavez's Handlers Undecided on Where He Gets Ranked

Promoter Fernando Beltran of Zanfer Promotions told the World Boxing Organization to hold off on giving Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (46-1-1, 32KOs) a high ranking position as a middleweight. Chavez will make his super middleweight debut on September 28th against Brian Vera in Carson, California.

After the fight with Vera, Beltran says Chavez will make a decision on where he plans to fight - at 160 or 168-pounds. The WBO champion at 160 is Peter Quillin and at 168 the ruler is Robert Stieglitz.

How about winning a fight at 168 first?

Doesnt the Muhammad Ali Boxing Reform Act prohibit this corruption?

Chavez is already highly ranked at #2 by the WBC. What's there to hold off on?

Steiglitz-Chavez Jr would be interesting and Steiglitz has travelled in the past so would do so again for the payday.
