Showtime has absolutely no LHW's.... The best LHW's in the world are with HBO.
Not to mention HBO also has Ward, who could always move up to LHW and challenge.

Showtime on the other hand only has Hopkins, and they have him fighting guys like Karo Murat.

Signing with GB would be very ******. They have a poor LHW roster. If/When he crushes Hopkins he's stuck there.

Hopkins is too legendary of a fighter to make the mistake of fighting Kovalev at the end of his career. He's earned too fight who he wants, he's 48 people. He's almost done.

Are you personally involved in the negotiations for either Hopkins or Kovalev? I didn't think so, so stop pretending that you're important and know something the rest of us don't.

Here are the facts: Hopkins, due to his involvement with Golden Boy, would never realistically be able to fight an HBO boxer. Hopkins' relationship with Golden Boy existed well before Kovalev had a cadre of BoxingScene.com groupies.

Prior to the Clverly fight, Kovalev was clearly not HBO property. Following that fight, Kovalev now says his career "is in the hands of HBO."

Apparently reading comprehension around here is in short supply.

I did not suggest that Kovalev shouldn't have signed a deal with HBO. Kovalev has to do what he thinks is best for his career.

I did suggest that all the armchair warriors here arguing that Hopkins is ducking Kovalev are making an asinine argument. If Kovalev really wanted a Hopkins fight, signing an HBO deal wasn't the way to get it.

FYI - Kovalev is a racist, too. He personally stated these racist comments in an interview about black people (which he also refers to them as sunburned people), "They talk too much. I live in Florida and there is a lot of people in Florida from the islands and everyday I like them less." I wonder how his trainers who are both black (Turner and Jackson and Jackson) would feel knowing their fighter is a racist. Even the Russians are saying what a ******, dumb comment he made to the press.... So for all my African American friends, now you see what I stated.

I don't necessarily disagree with anything you wrote. Kovalev had to make a choice: sign with HBO, which arguably has a larger stable of decent opponents, or keep his options open and demand a fight with Bernard Hopkins, a living legend. Each option had potential risks and rewards.

Kovalev chose to go the HBO route, precluding a Hopkins fight, yet Kovalev fanboys are still suggesting that Hopkins is somehow ducking Kovalev. That makes no sense. I know most of the posters here have never stepped into a boxing ring before, but some of them sure act like they have been punched in the head repeatedly.
