Donaire would get paid regardless of who is across from him in the ring.

If you're going to fight in a new division, fight someone in the division. What does beating Darchynian prove? That he can beat a 122 pounder at 126? He still won't know what it's like to fight an established featherweight

Anyway, not a great headliner but an ok fight to comeback on for Donaire.

A Rigo-Darchynian fight at 122 makes a lot more sense than a Donaire-Darchynian rematch at 126.

Move up? For starters, Rigo is a natural 118 fighter who could fight at 115 if he so chose. He's a tiny guy. You want him to move up to 126? At what point does a fighter overextend himself? If Vic wants to do that, seek revenge and make some money, that's fine. Guille is in a bad situation. He's too small for 126 and he's too good for everyone from 122 on down. I'm totally cool with him fighting the best available fighters at 122. It sucks, but it is what it is.

He definitely is too good for all the other 122's.

KO loss rematches are not pointless but what makes Donaire-Darchynian rematch pointless is that it is several years too late and 2 divs up.

Mares-Gonzales is an immediate rematch. Same division and no losses in between fights.
