Comments Thread For: Mosley: Canelo Has Unexpected Speed and Defense

On Tuesday afternoon, WBA/WBC junior middleweight champion Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez entertained the media ahead of his Sept. 14 date with pound for pound king Floyd Mayweather.

For this particular camp, Alvarez (42-0-1, 30 KO’s) is training out of the home and facility of his former rival Shane Mosley, who he bested over twelve rounds in May of last year.

A three-division champion who has endeared himself to audiences over the years, Mosley is still very much a player in the game following his unanimous decision victory over Pablo Cesar Cano in May.

I've been saying that for awhile. Very underrated hand speed, but overrated punching power. Kinda nullifies, I guess.

Canelo definitely has unexpected hand speed in close quarters, thats because of his short stumpy arms.. Floyd isnt ******, he knows this.. Id say canelo has good power, not great..

Canelos biggest issues vs floyd is gonna be his poor stamina and mediocre jab..
Floyd is gonna potshot amd dance all night.. Losing 14lbs in a month isnt going to be fun, especially when your already in tip top shape. Theres no doubt hes gonna be drained and hes trying to lose weight as we speak.. While Floyd basically is sharpening his skills 95% of camp.

I must agree with most of what Mosley said, I do agree that Canelo's hand speed has always being overlooked (ask Trout) whom nobody was ever close to landing the kind of hooks, straights and uppercuts with such precission as Canelo did. Trout said the same thing Mosley said, that Canelo deseptive hand speed and Defence.

                  he wont have to

floyds footwork is superior and will have him shooting, dipping, ripping and

exiting out and away from canelos power.....canelo doesnt have the foot

agility to be in the pocket long enough to get to floyd...

as much as you worship floyd how do you know so little?

well i guess because you know little about boxing itself..
