I watch boxing for the brutality with finesse. Brutality without finesse is for the bars. Finesse without brutality is for the old ladies...aka "new age" fans.

David Haye's performance was really hindered by his toe. But his real issue was he failed to take the risk necessary to go after someone as skilled as Wlad. Probably keeps him up at night.Comment

Can't stand fighters that's not a "man" in the ring, regardless of their accomplishments: SRL, Whitaker, Floyd, Bhop, Ali after Thrilla. Holding, running, butting, elbowing, crying... Throw Hagler in there just for refusing to fight anybody slightly bigger.Comment

I hate it when people use the phrase "the sweet science" in the sense that they think you must enjoy watching pure boxers to be considered a true fan of the sport and if you don't then they consider themselves to be better boxing fans than you. I can enjoy watching a "boxing clinic" but at the end of the day it's a damn fight and that's just what I want to see. Give me two people trying to take each other's heads off over someone like Larry Holmes jabbing his way to victory.
By the way, that's not a shot at Holmes; I can enjoy watching him and I rank him as one of the greats at Heavyweight, I'd just much rather view a tear-up.Comment
