He's right, though, they are desperate. You're right, too, they're good fights, but they would rarely attempt to put on a show like this in the past. You can tell they're desperate to put on big shows now. That's good for the rest of us.

They're not desperate. They would rarely attempt to put on a show like this because they had Ross Greenberg, now they have Ken Hershman. This is the new HBO. How is it desperation when they're doing well and its looking to be a successful replacement/venture?

I was under the impression they showed Barker-Geale because it was a title fight and the winner is a potential, and one of the best potential (like it or not) opponents for one of their fighters- GGG. And it was also on the same day as Kovalev-Cleverly, which was a much bigger championship fight. No?

Yeah they are lumping all these fights together because they have almost no star power. No one knows who those guys are.

Who cares if they don't know who they are? With HBOs exposure, they will. You're telling me a guy like Kovalev shouldn't be fighting on a top network? What's it matter if no one knows him, does that make him less a fighter? It's not like the fights they're putting on aren't fun, competitive fights. There simply isn't 10 guys better then Barker or Geale in the MW division and Golovkin happens to be in that division.

No one in America knew who Golovkin was before his fight with Proksa, but with HBOs backing and exposure, he's looking to recieve the same star power as any other "star". And he just so happens to be an excellent boxer, who was just as good before anybody knew him or before he got the chance to be on HBO.

I didn't say they shouldn't be on but they probably wouldn't be if HBO weren't desperate.

It was not so long ago that HBO rejected a fight like Froch-Bute. Now they have Barker vs Geale as a main event
