Can This Be Why Floyd Struggled With Cotto?

I use the word struggled loosely, Cotto in my opinion only won about 3 rounds but why does no one ever provide an excuse or reason why Floyd loss a few rounds and got touched up a lil bit? Cotto is simply given credit for doing better than anyone else has in years vs Floyd but no one provides a reason why....

I can think of 3 major reasons quite easily why Floyd didn't have his best performance against Cotto.

    1. Floyd was on his way to Prison in a month...is prison not a distraction?

    2. Floyd was separated from his children and thats not cool heading into a fight

    3. Floyd was moving up in weight where Cotto was comfortable, fighting a bigger guy at 154+

    4. Roger Mayweather had Floyd fighting more offensively and being less responsible defensively

    5. Floyd wanted the Pacquiao fight not Cotto on May 5 (40 million offer declined)

If any other fighter were going through these sorts of things heading into a fight there would of been a ton of excuses made for them. Remember Corrales and how going to prison is why he got KO'd by Floyd??? Remember MAB and how he loss to Pac because he had a metal plate in his head and a forest fire delayed his training? Remember Morales and how it was only his first fight at 135 so the Raheem shut out dont count?

With that said the only fight Floyd has ever come close to losing was against Castillo, that was his first fight at 135, vs the true champ, he had a torn rotator cuff, was clearly the smaller man and yet none of that can be used as an excuse???

Floyd fought Cotto flat footed and that was a huge mistake..in the 11th and 12th when Floyd started moving he almost dropped Cotto..not if he wasnt moving by choice or force i do not know, but i do know Cotto came to fight and force his jab on Floyd

Cotto does things really well that trouble Mayweather. No excuses are needed. Mayweather wanted to go toe to toe, Cotto was good enough to give him hard work. He's not a bum, he's a damn good fighter that was on the biggest stage of his career.

Yet these flowmos will attack pacman hurting his ankle and having real distractions like politics as a lame excuse just in case he loses.

But they throw up so many reaching excuses for Floyd its not even funny.

You know the real answer? floyd thought Cotto was shot and would be slower at 154, also movement gives him trouble most of Floyd fights have been tailor made opponents.

When Cotto was getting on his toes and side to side and just popping his jab he was hitting Floyd because Floyd couldn't time when the punch was coming.

Oscar was able to hit floyd with straight left hands too.

Floyd decided to stay in the pocket and not use his legs. This is why he struggled with Cotto. Cotto is a great technical boxer and he throws a lot of combinations. Floyd's work rate isn't the same as it was when he fought in the lighter weights. This is why he was out of his element fighting Cotto the way he did. He should just stick to his defensive mind since he abandoned his aggressive style years ago.

If Cotto is all you say he is then why does the phrase "Cotto was shot when Mayweather fought him" gets repeated so much around here?

I just think its that cotto, while being shot and past his prime, still is a top level guy, who would beat most welters if he went back down,,, staying at 154 is a mistake,,,

I think floyd fought a good fighter, and when that happens you get punched like floyd did..

floyd still won and cotto only had about 8 good rounds in him and then faded,,,,
plus floyd didnt move at all, like he usually does,,, it was like SRL-Duran 1 when duran came out and tried to go toe2toe with duran..
but cotto aint no duran and floyd beat him in a slugfest,,,,,,

My personal opinion and i have no facts to back this up: floyd had aged and lost his legs, took a year off and got on some stuff to restore legs and boxed circles around ghost,,,
if the floyd that fought ghost fought cotto,,, cotto wouldnt have won a round,,,
but thats my own conspiracy theory and like i said, have no facts to back it up
                just my observation

Because the Pac and Floyd fanbases are locked in an eternal struggle of douchebaggery. Duh. Cotto was obviously past it but not shot.

Cotto has the style to bother Floyd when Floyd stand still, simple as that,Cotto fought the right fight and Floyd fought the wrong fight
