Why does Goldenboy want to give Rusell Jr a free pass, I don't get it he hasn't fought anybody in the top ten yet. Let him fight Orlando Salido, Daniel Ponce DE Leon, Celestino Caballero or Javier Fortuna. Make the man earn his right to fight for a title like everybody else. He's fought guys with good records but those guys got their records fighting bums.

I hope this fight happens! It is way overdue for Gary Russell Jr. to be fighting much tougher competition. I don't believe GBP has done a good job promoting Gary Russell Jr. It is a shame that Broner has been given so much by GBP and Russell Jr. has been in the shadows. Is it because he doesn't pop ****? He got paid for the Ponce De Leon fight 200K (as a champion) De Leon 350K.
For this fight with Mares Mares got 984K, while Gonsalez got only 100K WTF!!! GBP pay this man his rightfully earned money!!!

when u look thru jhonnys resume other than vasquez, hes only ever lost to southpaws.....so it doesnt make sense for him to fight one, especially one without any defining fights. I think his best option is santa cruz, its a very winnable fight, and good money
