He has the character to say no to the promoter when the things turn bad for him. He was fine to say no to Rios fight once Arum wanted to cheat him. You may see the same with Rigo. By some reason Arum doen;t help the Cubans, to many coincidence. He hate an Amateur with good style to destroy a pound per pound professional boxer. With Arum his carrer anyway wont be succesfull as Rigo is having problems with Arum. HE did well. HE prefers to get less money and fame and not being destroyed by Arum and accept hummilliations from him. The problem is that others boxers do whatever arum and Schaefer wants they to do and they manipulate all the fights. Everybody recognize he is a wonderfull boxer and he prefer less money but with dignity. You guys prefer those good boxers but everything is manipulated by the promoters. You may see a Mexican boxer for ionstance with 30 wins being destroyed easely because they choose their oponents carefully for him. Is Nonito and Canelo by instance, who BTW, has almost the same fights as Mayweather and if you see his numbers he is equal to Mayweather. I hope he can win Mayweather jaja

Mayweather screwed up the guy's career. Gamboa not showing up in a Arum negotiated fight is vintage Floyd. The Cuban's mistake was that he thought Floyd would adopt him like a real brother and give him the kind of career he wanted. Turned out that Floyd is only concerned about Floyd. Floyd the promoter, is way worse than Arum
Gamboa still got lucky that 50 cent was there to settle his lawsuit, feed him, house him, buy his contract... Fifty spent a fortune taking care of the guy, which Floyd, Gamboa's idol, would never have done.

i say go for it. his career is a mess as of now from the looks of it, i think someone like gomez and the wbc can get him some nice exposure, dough, and eventually big fights. plus, he'd probably be fighting on fox sports or fox deportes, two channels i have and i'd love to see him on.
