Anyone who doesn't believe that the Ring is wholeheartedly anti-Jermain Taylor doesn't read the Ring, period.

JMM up that high is bull****. The only fight anyone can remember of his from the last two years was a tie, for ****'s sakes.

RM is a good fighter for sure but he's probably too high. And Tarver is only on there to justify their Ring Championship deal.

Wow Chill out man. Yes there are 10 names listed ahead of Taylor, but if you honestly believe that Juan Marquez and Wonjongkam is better than Taylor then find a justification.

Better In terms of opponents fought and beaten? Nahh.
Better in terms of being a crowd draw? Nahh.
Better in terms of accomplishment? Definitely a big No.

Then how the **** can Ring claims these 2 deserces to be in the top 10 than Taylor.

Better In terms of opponents fought and beaten? Either of those two, yes.. who really knew Taylor well before Hopkins, hell, who really knows him now compared to any other fighter (other than someone just riding his coat pockets like HBO).

Better in terms of being a crowd draw? This shouldn't have anything to do with rankings.

Better in terms of accomplishment? Taylor beat Hopkins narrowly twice and is now 25-0, they are 44-2-1 (Marquez) and 59-2 (Wonjongkam), a combined 103-4.


here's some more "justification" for those that don't understand why Jermaine "Bad Intentions" Taylor still has yet to make the list on The Ring's Top 10 P4P rankings in favor of Juan Marquez and Pongsaklek Wonjongkam..

59-2 Wonjongkam is easily the best flyweight in boxing right now, and just because you haven't seen him on television doesn't make it untrue. I've heard rumors on him fighting in the US sometime soon and he's deserved to be on the list for sometime (when making my own P4P rankings a few days back, i actually almost had him on the list as well).

Juan Manuel Marquez is similarily 44-2 with a single draw with Pacquiao, the fact that he was able to come back from a 3 KD ROUND and pull out a draw (in a fight that some even think he came back to win in), means he's got some P4P credit to his name already. Since then, he's beaten every opponent he's faced significantly.

Just because every Jermaine Taylor fight from now on is available on tv thanks to HBO, it doesn't mean there aren't fighters out there who's fights aren't televised and carried by a major distributor (HBO) that deserve to be above him in pound for pound standings.

Also, i'm not going to believe that "The Ring", a magazine with more than 80 years under it's belt, is going to become a "Taylor hater" because it's fashionable. They just see through the HBO/DiBella hype like many others do. Jermaine Taylor has successfully defeated Bernard Hopkins by two close decisions, you have to give him that (everyone does).. but now... name me something else 'outstanding' he has done to get him in the rankings.... anything? .... exactly.

Listen, if he successfully defends a few times, or even just once against a worthy opponent, he'll be on the list, but as i say AGAIN.. there's no way he should be in the top 10 yet until he's done a little more than win 2 close-narrow decisions with a man getting close to retirement(taking nothing away from either of the fights).

Hatton beat a man getting close to retirement only once and he's got the #5 spot. Before that his career is no more impressive than Taylor's. But the Ring is just a pro-Hatton as they are anti-Taylor.

As for JMM, his draw was impressive but a)it wasn't a win and b)it was two years ago! Yes he has won in "impressive" fashion since that time but against nobodies. Taylor's won in impressive fashion against opponents of equal caliber plus he has two wins against the guy who was (let's not forget) their #1 p4p fighter for more than a year.

A guy beats their #1 p4p fighter twice and doesn't even crack the top 10? Nonsense.

You made a lot of good points in your post, I just think that a lot of people are being too hard on Taylor because of their HBO-DiBella conspiracy theories. I mean, every fighter is hyped up by their promoters, right? Hopkins has been really good at "selling" this story and while I like BHop I think he is being pretty petty with all this.

To me, it's really not a case of conspiracy, i just look at what a fighter has done, and i go from there.. i almost feel like many take the "conspiracy theories" in, say they're untrue, and they become bigger Taylor fans because of it when in reality, really other than his 2 big-close wins with Hopkins, he hasn't proved awhole lot, i'm not a Taylor hater, i just am putting things into perspective here and until Taylor proves something to me, he'll remain just on the edge of making the list. It's not out of his grasp, i don't think, he's just simply not there yet.

I mean, is Taylor's situation that much different from Jeff Lacy's, who many shun away from because they feel he hasn't faced anyone legit yet?

There's no comparison. Pacquiao was killing himself trying to make the weight and he couldn't. As a result, he lost his flyweight title on the scales and went in the ring drained. He also got KTFO due to body shots as a consequence. He moved up 2 divisions to super bantamweight after that ordeal.

Compare that with JLC who came in way heavy and didn't even try to make the weight. In his second attempt at the scales, he even came in heavier! Even worse than not trying is attempting to tamper with the scales. **** that! Caught red-handed like a low-life too. So he just said the hell with it. Absolutely no class.

He's very lucky Chico and his team were ****** enough to let the fight proceed. JLC had the big advantage over Corales coming inside the ring conditioned as a light welterweight almost, while Chico spent months traiing to make the proper weight. The 2nd fight was almost a mismatch in terms of conditioning and bulk.

That's exactly why he doesn't deserve a P4P ranking as he didn't match Corales pound per pound in their fight.

Wrong. Pacquiao tried to make the weight, failed and got stirpped of his Title accordingly. He just failed to make the weight. It was his fault but he didn't cheat.

Castillo on the other hand didn't even try and he and his team had no shame in trying to pull off tampering with the scales at the weigh-in. That's bafefaced cheating and shows blatant lack of class.
