I have to go with Sergey Kovalev. This dude is the real deal, especially if you've been watching his NBCSN Fight Night matches. He has tremendous power and made Cleverly look weak while Cleverly looked like a legit contender in the LHW division. Kovalev could end up being a star, but I want to see him go through Father-Time in Benard Hopkins.

          I chose Jhonny Gonzalez.

But there were some other very impressive performances in August:

          Kiko Martinez
          Sergey Kovalev
          Darren Barker
          Thabiso Mchunu
          Giovani Segura

You do realize Mares was in his backyard with a rowdy crowd cheering for him too right?

Voted Kovalev but on second thought; Gonzalez.
