Victor Ortiz vs. Alfonso Gomez....Is this fight going to happen?

A while back Alfonso Gomez was rumored to be the man that Victor Ortiz would fight in his comeback fight on september 6. I see nothing on boxrec? Checked out his twitter and dude barely talks about boxing....What's going on with Victor? Is the fight on??

Alfonso is not dangerous whatsoever. Just the perfect opponent to get a nice win and some confidence back.

He performed pretty good and had a bloody fight with Porter.
Who knows where Victor is at at this point.

Victor backed out of the fight in September due to the Expendables 3 gig. According to Alfonso, the fight is being rescheduled for November sometime, but since I question whether Victor's heart is there for boxing anymore, until the contract is signed and official not holding my breath on it.

As to the Cotto vs Gomez fight Bullet Charley, Gomez came into that fight coming off a serious illness in his training camp and also had a partially broken hand going into it. Since that fight, he's been better, with a clear win over Jesus Soto-Karass in 2009 and giving Saul Alvarez one of his toughest fights in a somewhat sketchy defeat back in 2011. He lost his last fight to prospect Shawn Porter in July 2012 but it was a FotY candidate. If the fight gets made, at the least the fight will be competitive.

I'd pick Gomez over Ortiz. All Gomez has to do is survive 2 rounds and the fight is his.

I don't know about Gomez's dedication..... been seeing him a lot with his musical group.... think it's hybrid or something like that.
Still though, he's underrated. He was giving Canelo a good fight albeit being knocked down and rocked... scorecards were in no way a reflection of that.
He tested porter too.... I hope to see him again
