Russell Jr does deserve a shot there's no one else out there right now for one. Then you have the entertainment value a fight between the 2 would bring. I actually would prefer Russell to take the belt from Gonzalez and turn around and fight Mares rather than see a rematch because Mares from a stylistic point just doesn't match up well against Gonzalez..

The only thing I'll complain about is he hasn't fought anybody to deserve a title shot. Everybody else goes through wars against good fighters and veterans and Gary gets to fight TBA, stay fresh and then fight a guy that took the hard road to get there. That to me is what's wrong with boxing, to many pampered and protected fighters getting free rides.

Watching him fight TBA was not entertaining for me. Has he evr fought anybody in the top ten?
