Shocking KO. Great win for Gonzalez. Minor setback for Mares. I could him winning a rematch.

It was very shocking, no one thought that Mares would be dispatched in 1 round.

But Mares can make a comeback from this. Just regroup, watch the film, and see what mistakes can be corrected so that he improves. There's no shame in getting caught by a big puncher.

Why the hell are people saying Mares has a glass chin? Do they not know Jhonny is a BIG puncher and could have easily KO'd Donaire or Rigo had he landed flush on them too? I swear, you guys make it seem like Jhonny is feather fisted, it's ridiculous.

I wouldn't of mind had the fight gone to the next round who wouldn't? But was Mares contesting the stoppage? I think not. He was hazed for over 3 minutes after the KO sitting down it wasn't enough time to recuperate in between the round but by no means it was a premature stoppage.

I'm not gonna say that I called it too, but I did mention to my cousin the night before the fight that Gonzalez was going to shock a lot of people. More than anything I mentioned that Johnny would be a great fighter if it wasn't for his glass chin; however, since Mares is not a big puncher, Gonzalez had a very good chance of winning. Of course, I never predicted an outcome like what transpired!

I remember a friend of mine that I used to sparring with had an impossible short/compact hook and you have to respect it or you are going to get hurt.
Last night was a perfect execution, Mares should know that nobody can take that punch. The good thing Mares has the boxing skills to go under it or to keep the distance. He just need to show a little respect for the opponent.

Chin might not ever be the same. Jk I like Mares a lot but that first hook was a mean fuqqing hook. Gonzalez coulda probably dropped a lightweight with that ****.

I love when a well-executed left hook leads to a KD. Gonzalez hit him right on the button, and Mares got caught right at the end of it. I was already up off the couch before the punch actually landed because I knew what it meant.
