Did anyone else pick up a Victor Ortiz vibe from Mares? He seem to b on some " I lost it's not biggie" Really wasn't feeling his nonchalant vibe. My other gripe not just with him but why don't fighters clinch and hold after being hurt? This is such a lost art in boxing

        I called it and won 150 $

I said jhonny is old but if he tags mares early he's gonna put him down n out! Like mares but was NEVER ridin him like some of the (d)ickriders in here, especially when they ALL talked **** about donaire losing to rigo. I'd rather lose like donaire then get beatdown in 1 round like mares

The fight was over after the 1st KD. Mares looked very small almost fragile compared to Gonzalez his body was in full shutdown mode..

Usually id say yeah but in the replay seeing Mares eyes i understand why the ref didn't even let him attempt to get up before there was some spark after the 1st kd, after that second k.d there was a blank stare almost looked like he may pass out. I like Mares if he was to get KTFO i rather that than something worse.

WHAT? the ref gave mares too much time on the first knock down.........the 2nd knock down he was flat out. and even after the ref stopped it mares eyes were very dodgy and he didn't know where the hell he was..........

let him make it to the 2nd round? by lifting mares up and making him put his hands to his face? if a guy is out he's out........

Someone should coach these fighters to hold, especially when there is 10 seconds left, or take a knee.

No. One quit and the other was out on his feet.

I'm not big on the smaller fighters (under 140), except for the bigger names such as; Mares, Rigo, Russell Jr., etc., so I'm very surprise because I never heard of this guy Jhonny. I was sitting her telling my wife who was watching the fight with me, how good Mares is and I've seen his last 4 fights... then he loses in the 1st round. lol. He'll be back. he's still young.
Yeah Jhonny has had an immpressive career but has been under the radar. He has had many noticeable and great wins versus stiff competition prior to this victory. A well deserved victory for the new WBC champion of the world. War Mares, first loss but took it like a champ.
