If that honestly was Lacy's best win, we have a ****ty fight on our hands (what with Calzaghe being so washed-up). And Reid isn't a "Big, big puncher", where did that come from?

Oh and Lacy wouldn't of stood much against the Reid of 96 and first half of 97.

Blue Blazer, if you read the top of the post you will see that this was written by a writer from Ring Magazine????
So why are you querying me???

Im gonna go with my boy Joe for this one.... I realise his weaknesses and was impressed with his win over Evans A-who? as he used one punch for like 6 rounds and won a clear decision....

Lacy i have seen one fight of, and in fact, the very weaknesses i observed in Joe, I saw in Lacy....

The fight has potential, but dont get too hyped would be my advice, Calzaghe is known for the occasional boring fight, and we simply do not know the gameplan of either fighter.... nevertheless the potential for a war is there given their styles and given their performances against past opponents...

no Lacy has this one, by 5th round Joe is on the canvas. That is the only way he is gonna win cause if it goes all the way he will not win on the judges cards.

Ooookay. Since when has Eubank ever had any nuthuggers?? Lol!

And Eubank was hardly given a chance against Calzaghe, because he took the fight at such short notice and had to lose so much weight.. and, ofcourse, because Calzaghe was blasting out everybody who dared share a ring with him. And Eubank was rusty as **** (forget the sparring sessions in the Middle East), and hired Dennis Andries to work his corner because he fell out with long-time trainer Ronnie Davies. I wouldn't say Eubank was done, but the circumstances surrounding the fight and with Calzaghe being such a young lion.. Eubank was hardly given no chance.

With all due to respect to Denmark’s Mikkel Kessler, who is ranked second at 168, these (Lacy and Calzaghe) are the only super middles that matter at this point.
In terms of economics and mass appeal - Lacy and Calzaghe may be the only ones who matter. But in terms of being the best fighter none of them are really gonna prove much without facing Kessler as well.
If boxing is just another popularity contest - The odd's are stacked against any fighter from a small country. But that doesn't mean that he cant be the better man.
But chances are the winner of Lacy-Calzaghe will rather pretend that Kessler is not there or that he doesn't matter. Not enuff money in that fight to make it worth the risk.

In reality, Brahmer is the best at 168 by a distance.
Followed by Froch, Kessler, Bute, and then the winner of Calzaghe-Lacy.

So I definately do not rate Calzaghe or Lacy in the top three super-middleweights at the moment, there is more talent out there right now IMO.

Calzaghe has looked a shadow of his former self in his last three fights, obviously Calzaghe of 1996-2002 is better than any of todays super-middleweights.. but the guy just hasn't impressed lately.

This fight is terrific. Lacy IS the hot property right now but Calzaghe, when on form is the toughest opponent yet for Lacy.
If Omar Shekia can contend with Lacy, Calzaghe has a chance to win!
