Floyd fights the guy that brings the most to the table $$$wise and brings the least amount of risk,,,,,
Yes it is, because HYPE means money, with the exception of the Pacquiao fight that is lol.

Take Shane Mosley for example, he was always a easy fight for Floyd, but people started with "O Floyds scared" and boom, you got a UD shutout.

Floyd follows the hype, because hype brings money.

Im cool with this fight too, this is a legit great fight, but if people really wanna see Floyd in risky fights that can go eitherway, stop going by hype, race, Mexican warrior this and that.

Go by styles, and styles will never lead you wrong.

Instead of hyping up the Canelo fight, you guys should have been hyping up Austin Trout Vs Floyd Mayweather after Trout's win over Cotto.

Instead of hyping up Ortiz you should have been hyping up Lara Vs Mayweather.

Instead of hyping up Delahoya you should have been hyping up Paul Williams.

My point is, the most dangerous fights for Floyd stylewise is usually not against the most popular guys.
Pressure fighters/'punchers' (particularly Mexican and Mexican-American fighters) are the easiest to market so they are the ones who are picked to fight Mayweather.

The truth is in the pudding: G. Hernandez, Corrales, Castillo, Gatti, Baldomir, Hatton, DLH (07' version), JMM (forced into a style change because of size disparity), Mosely (10' version), Ortiz, Guerrero, Canelo (152 catchwight), ...

Like you mentioned, the guys who would or would have really given Mayweather problems were guys like Erislandy Lara, Sergio Martinez 154/160, Austin Trout, , P.Will, Forrest, Demetrius Andrade etc.

Castillo gave Mayweather problems and technically beat him in their first fight, so maybe a prime 147 Margarito and a prime 154 Angulo could have given him trouble with their chin, power, size and relentless pressure.

All of that was before floyd became the biggest draw in boxing,,,

the cotto not ready stuff was from 2005,, Cotto was ready by late 2007 and especially in 2008,,,, but floyd was having a fake retirement

Manny did finally agree to floyd's terms and floyd changed the money split on manny,,,,
Shane would have fought floyd after the oscar fight, just like how he fought cotto later that year,,, Floyd was the biggest draw in the sport and brought the biggest check.....

So its hard to make fights when you dont really want them,, unless shane is coming off 17 month layoff and floyd had just fought jmm, and cotto was a complete shell of himself after the margs and manny beatdowns,,, he struggled vs yuri, mayorga, and one-eyed margs, but then floyd wanted to fight him and even claimed that cotto was undefeated, and that he doesnt do catchweights..
but then the next year floyd doing catchweights,,,,,
Floyd is a hypocrite and a very careful selector of his opponents,,, that is the main reason every ATG resume you can think off craps on floyds resume

Floyd fans didn't want that fight.

I agreed with a lot of what you said but any version of Angulo gets whooped by Floyd all night long. That guy is a walking zombie, he telegraphs his punches and plods a long like an 80 year old arthritis patient.
