He can definitely recover. It was devastating, but It was an early KO. Had he taken a full beating like Lacy did against Calzaghe for 12 rounds, he would never be the same.

I've got to give cleverly credit for chasing this fight though, respect to cleverly for that.

wasn't very clever though. It was probably just ******ity or laziness in not checking Kovalev out. If Warren knew he was dangerous he'd never put him in the ring with Clev until he was 40something.

He won't leave boxing. He is too young and has a good career ahead of him.

Hopefully this defeat won't affect him mentally like Price's loss has done to him but I expect him to come back next year and get back into the mix for a world title.

Cleverly is upset as he realizes hes not invincible now, and realizes hes not the new JC, rather new Gavin Rees more like it.

But if you had the feeling you would retire if you lost your first fight, by all means retire already, retire now.

But if you was more realistic in that there was a possibility youd lose one day and come back stronger, continue.

His heart was stolen much like Hamed. Mentally ruined.

hmmmmmmm, why do modern day boxers do the "retiring" after only a couple of fights and one loss?
wheres the guts? spirit? heart? desire?
                  yep....i got it.....its the money.
when they fall from the tree the gotta fight for scraps and keep winning before climbing into the money zone again.
unlike amir king khunt who, does get big chances because we all like to see the **** get battered to fook.
this fellah is no joe calzaghe and WAS never gonna be.
laters, im gonna have a pony.

yes i agree that the barrera loss ruined hamed mentally but, he had heart, guts and will to win for instance....
the kelly fight, danny alicea, sanchez, etc and had the power to turn any fight.
cleverly on the other hand, is a family man, kind, nice and thoughful....this took his heart and he doesnt (it appears) to have any of the above to recover from this defeat in front of his home crowd.
the welsh are biiiigggg fight fans and have a real sense of pride in their fighters, this would have had a massive impact on them too.

one loss and you want to retire.....you don't have what it takes mentally, maybe you should retire. You will likely quit in your next fight as soon as things don't go your way.
