Deontay Wilder fights bums for a good reason

I was like many who thought Deontay Wilder was a bum who beat up worse bums until i learned this important fact- "Deontay wilder only started boxing in 2005".

Now i know this, i realise that he has a very good reason for fighting bums. He is gaining valuable experience and needs to keep fighting bums for quite sometime because he will not be ready for the klitshckos any time soon. Wilder started boxing in 2005 and won a bronze in the 2008 beijing Olympics, so his amature record is not enough for him to jump into Pro Boxing and fight the best immediately.

By now, Deontay Wilder has 29 fights and is ready to fight and beat someone like Seth 'NFL' Mitchell. He would also beat Arrerrolla to be honest. Deontay has to stay dedicated and he can become one one the best fighters in the heavy weight division in a few years.

People are saying that the Puerto Rican kid that lost to Giovani Segura tonight was thrown in there too soon. So people know that there is logic behind fighting easier bouts.....they just don't want to admit it when it comes to Deontay.

I for one have no problem with Wilder facing a lower level of opposition while he learns his craft. Why put him in with a top tier opponent before he's ready? Just so that he can get beat?

I have been harsh on Wilder in the other thread for only one reason. He HAS potential but it will likely get wasted if he does not get a real coach. Lennox Lewis or a retired Klitschko would be ideal!

Canelo fought like 40 nobodies. Let Wilder have his fun, he will get up there soon. GGG still is fighting nobodies and somehow is worshipped even though Wilder disposes of his much more impressively

IDK what his boxing goals are, but I'm guessing that his primary focus, at least for the past couple years, has been providing for his daughter who was born with a spinal condition that is going to require lifelong attention and medical care. It's in addition to what you said, too, because he was/is still very raw. The slow road has served him well so far... he's still around, so maybe his boxing goals will become more focused. Still really don't know what to think of him as a fighter outside of his speed and power. As he is now, I think his patience in setting up that shot is his best attribute. What happens after that is still a bit of a mess but hey whoever lands first

Man, if GGG is fighting nobodies, Wilder must be fighting duck embryo or something.
Can't say that because some of them are too old or inactive to be considered that... so crypt keepers

There are some issues first that Wilder must pass before we'll know how good he can be. He needs to be chin checked, he does not appear to have an exceptionally strong jawline or neck and is very light for his height, no legs. Doesn't always mean **** but if he has a weak chin he will need to become something of a defensive master like Wlad or Lewis to survive at the top.

He will have to learn to punch straight, I can't see him being a major factor windmilling like that.

It is a admirable his efforts for his daughter and wish him the best. Someone with such apparent potential as Wilder should be properly managed imo! One would think with the quality of current American heavies they would want to invest in this man.

You don't know who Mark Breland is or what his boxing credentials are, do you?

Am patient for fighters who especially have no amateur background but I don't want them hyped before they have done much. That is what creates the need for him to be moved along quicker. Yes it's good to be excited because he is a prospect but don't let us take it too far.

I don't actually but I don't approve of his windmilling the fact he has never been given the opportunity to experience anything but early blowouts of weak opponents who cannot strike back. Can't say that is good business, Wilder is not that young.
