This is a completely uselss and pointless fight. Don't see why GGG couldn't have waited a couple hours to see who wins Geale-Barker and fight the winner. GGG is very good. But its time for him to step up and fight some legitimate contenders to justify some of this hype.
IF you think Geale or Barker can whup GGG then yer mind is G O N E !!
this looks like a strategic move by HBO to get the Main Events stable (Kovalev, Stevens, Tomasz Adamek, a few others) back on their network. I don't think Stevens has done enough to deserve a title shot frankly, but on the bright side I think he'd stand a better chance than would Darren Barker.

"Don't see why GGG couldn't have waited a couple hours to see who wins Geale-Barker and fight the winner"? Are you serious Hitking? These guys WILL NOT FIGHT GENNADY! When they quit running from him he will fight them. HBO will insure some of these guys will fight him but they will have to really bring out the cash, I wouldn't be surprised if he knocks all of them off in 2014 with HBO bank rolling it, but we will see. Golovkin will make very short work of this chinny guy Stevens, take that to the bank!
It doesn't really work like that tho. Golovkin will just be boxing his opponents and he'll hurt them. I don't see this going beyond 2 rounds.
Well Stevens is at maximal capacity over two rounds so I would say that's the most dangerous portion of the fight for GGG. Look its a world-ranked NYC boxer fighting in his hometown with an HBO audience against a world titlist - puncher's chance guarantee will surely sell this bout
Macklin, gave Sergio hell and arguably beat Sturm, KO'D by GGG.
Rosado, beat up Soto Karass (lower division though), TKO'D by GGG.
Regardless of a fighters record it is easy to see when they have extreme talent, and GGG has that.
Don't even know why I bother with you though, you're the same guy in the Pacquaio vs Mayweather thread who tried telling everyone Cotto, Margarito, and Hatton all lost there fights before facing Pacquaio... dumb ass or what, learn to research.

I agree Teddy, Ken Hershman (I believe he is still the man behind the scenes) definitely is looking to the future with an eye mainly on Kovalev.

GGG can make quick work of as many fringe contenders as he wants. Until he starts fighting top guys, or even legit contenders for that manner. He'll be nothing but unjustified hype.
